Who insures your 4x4?

I was looking at changing insurance and called Geigo for a quote. They did much better on the Pathfinder and F250 but they won't insure the Mammoth cause of the size of the tires but said there are insurance companies that specialize in specialty vehicles.

He said if I hadn't said anything about what it was and something happened to it they wouldn't cover it.

So I'm wondering if anyone has any advice on insurance for a highly modified vehicle like the Mammoth.

I use Mercury to insure my bone stock 1985 pickup.

I have State Farm, and after my truck got stolen and recovered, they cut me a check in two days and it was more than enough to cover the damages... As far as getting what its worth if its stolen, that would be a fight because blue book probably says $2000, but my receipts say $10,000!! So I was told that I need to keep my receipts in case that ever happened, that way I could present a case. I think to get anything other than standard insurance (full coverage) you need to have it appraised by an insurance company that will actually offer special coverage..

As far as monthly payments..  its very cheap for full coverage, and Im only 29.. so yours should be cheaper ;)

I was looking at some specialty vehicle insurance. It's currently insured with the same ins. the Pathfinder and F250 have, I think I'll change them to Geico and leave the Mammoth on Progressive till we figure something else out.
It's not going to be going anywhere anytime soon anyway.

I currently have USAA.. best Insurance company hands down. I had Farmer's, but they were charging me $240 bucks for minimal coverage with no acidents or tickets... WOW.... then i researched Gieko ($370 Full cov on a month on 97 yota), Progessive ($450 full cov a month on 97 yota), State Farm ($290 full cov a month on 97 yota)... then USAA.... $599.... full coverage every six months on my 91 yota....

Farmer's screwed me on my 97 when it got stolen... they paid .14 cents over loan amount.... The truck did have a rebuild title, but i was told i would get enough money back that i could get a new truck... then there excuse was cause it was a liability.... what a crock of $#!T..

With full coverage for my truck, dirt d**e, and my wife fully covered, it's about $740 every six months... not bad!!!!

I went from Safeco, who I've been with for the last 20 years, to State Farm and my monthly payment went from $175 to $75 a month.  Then I added a life ins policy, home owners, & mother-in-laws car, which brought it up to $135 a month.  And in the last year and a half, I've gotten two rate reductions, and I just cashed a $41.00 rebate check.  That's more than safeco has ever done for me in 20 years!

You can get ins for the vehicle, and then have extra coverage for all the added stuff.  They can actually insure your stereo equipment in cars, as long as it won't fit in the stock locations!  Another thing to do is to get a part time ins. on the mammoth.  That way if you know your not gonna drive it for the next 6 months, you call them and they just suspend the ins, but not drop ins on it!  And call them up and say were gonna drive it, please activate it!  There are alot of options that ins. companies can do for you, but they don't want to tell ya.

I just switched over from Safeco to Kansas Farm Bureau cause Safeco won't insure KS residents.  Got a decent rate and set me up with a renter policy included for a couple dollars a month more than just the auto insurance.  I was pretty happy with the rate due to my less than stellar credit rating.  FB has divisions in lots of states.
IFS is best kept at ambient temperature in a pile of scrap in the backyard.  When kept under a functioning vehicle, it tends to greatly diminish said vehicle's offroad ability.     -reklund5

In FL if you have a registered vehicle you must have insurance on it or your license will be suspended. Except for all the illegals that run around without insurance or legal drivers licenses, so we have to carry uninsured motorist as well.
