have u seen all the stuff in the rear of the frame, there is no room to bob it, he would have to relocate the battery, fuel tank and air tank.

it'd be cool to build one with a bobbed bed...... not sayin to bob that one, its already built! :beerchug:

yes I know that...that's why I had the  :gap: in there.

regardless of what is back there, I think it looks goofy with 2feet hanging off the back.

That thing is sweet.  It looks a lot like my '87 but with a lot better suspension.

Ya theres no way I could bob this thing. I basically put a rubber couple on the fuel filler, and it just barely fits behind the tailgate. Lol. I think it would look cool bobbed. Could be done with a fuel cell.

There was a standard cab Toyota that was chopped probably over a foot, and chopped a few inches at the show this weekend.  I think it was a little much because the back of the bed looked a lot shorter than the front.

So after sitting for 4 months, this thing is back in the shop to get finished. I got the drive line built (from scratch, stock one is composite material no one will touch), and started the exhaust. The floor dips down behind the front seats for passenger foot room, leaves about 3/4" of room between the floor and the ground. Luckily with the IRS the drive line won't move, so I decided to tuck the exhaust up in the drive line tunnel. The floor comes back up behind the rear sits, so I am going to kick the tube back out and put the mufflers under there.

has it been taking up space at your shop for 4 months?

Twisted Minis

It's been in the parking lot, taking up one of my two allowed spaces for 4 months. It wasn't going to leave with an outstanding labor bill.

so how is the search for a clean first gen 4x4 going?

Twisted Minis

Not really looking for one ATM. I decided to buy the 91 for a clean reliable daily, and thinking about selling the blue truck. I just bought a new welder though, so no extra money for an extra vehicle right now.

new welder?  any pics?

Twisted Minis

Ya give me a second, I have this copy and pasted first.

Just about done with the exhaust. There is one rubber isolator on the cross member, but I need to wait until I build the strut rods for the rear axle (waiting on parts still) before I make hangers for the tips. I want to turn them out towards the wheels as much as possible, but I need to get the strut rods built first.

It's gonna be loud. Went from 1 3/4 tube with flat spots in it and massive mufflers, to 2.5" all the way out with what is basically a glass pack.

Ya I can't wait to hear it. A newer Mustang with 2.5" Flowmaster cat back keeps coming by the shop, and it sounds great. It's pretty loud just cruising at 10 MPH. Lol.

Heres the new MIG welder. I now have a matching set and I love it. Was getting tired of the duty cycle on my Miller, and having a red and blue fleet. This thing welds beautifully.

About $1500 with a 12.5 lb spool of .035 Lincoln L56 wire. It seems almost effortless to make a clean weld in comparison to the Miller. They have some kind of anti-spatter technology, and it sounds so smooth and consistent when it's running. And virtually no spatter, or orange haze. It's a beautiful thing.

damn that sounds nice!  all we have at work are miller welders. ours spatter like crazy no matter what. it seems like i just cant seem to get it set right so it does'nt. my dad had a hobart 220 MIG at our old shop and that thing welded like a dream! it was smooth and hardly any spatter.

My friend has a Miller 210 that welds pretty dirty, but I used a 212 that was pretty clean. I'm just over Miller at this point, with the BS service I have experience over the last 3 years. Plus it was driving me nuts having a red and blue welder parked next to each other. All my other tools are red.

yotas 4 life homie!

Twisted Minis

I ditched Miller because of the customer service I received. I had non stop issues with my welder for 2 years, about 6 months after I got it. They made me jump through hoops, and replace parts out of pocket. After calling every couple of months for a year and a half I gave up. Then a few months ago the issues where getting bad again and I gave it another shot. I had already sent the welder to an authorized service center, but this time they said they wanted to look at it. So I paid shipping both ways, and they said they couldn't figure it out. It's still under warranty, I don't understand why they wouldn't replace it if they couldn't find the problem, even after admitting that there was one. Other than that, I have no issues with Miller, I just won't support a company that won't support me.

I'm not sure. I have like 16K in it. I'd hope to get like half that.

Built strut rods. Getting some time in with the new MIG welder. Car is completely wired and plumbed, aside from the front two air lines. Strut rod mounts on the axle also act as a brace.
