Motor Mount Issues
« on: Jan 07, 2007, 07:32:52 PM »
Just broke my drivers side motor mount on first trip out with the new crawl gears in my case. I went to the local o'reillys and picked up a motor mount. Now I first searched for the part on the net and it showed it to be LS and RS specific. When I went to the store the counter guy tells me that the mount is not side specific. So I go to put the thing in and the holes dont line up to the frame side. Has anyone run across this lately? Are the motor mounts side specific?

as far as i know they ARE NOT  side specific

you better  put a chain on that thing  or you'll keep breaking mounts

They must have the wrong part number in the computer or the manufacture is punching the holes wrong because its not working. Thanks for the info.

Every mount i have ever purchased i had to open up the holes for them to fit.  chain them so they don't break again.

Buy a set of LC Engineering semi-solid motor mounts and never worry about them again. Every yoter I've ever build the motor mounts were broken and thats always my first upgrade. I've been running them for years and haven't even wore down the polyurethane bushing at all. You'll feel a little more vibration in the frame from the motor but way worth it...

don't waste your money on stock mounts there just going to break again. I got a set from rockstomp.com? rockstomper.com its one of those. there bullet proof. They do have some vibration though but well worth it . :hammerhead:

weld in a chain is as good as the solid mounts as long as you make sure you dont have to much slack in the chain, save you $80 if you dont have it.

FYI.....Just picked up a motor mount from Auto Zone that matched up perfectly. If you go to O'reilly's the motor mount they offer will not bolt up and requires modification to fit. It also cost 20 dollars more than the Auto Zone mount. I will post the part numbers up later today.

sorry to be the one to say it, but it looks kinda cheesey, and my truck has enough rattles already.  Im just going to build some motor mounts with some 3rd gen 4runner  4 link bushings

Ok Crawlers here's the part numbers for the motor mounts. The good one that fits without modificaion is from auto zone pt#713791. The o'riellys mount will require grinding and cost 20 bucks more pt#8162 and the line is ANR. Hope this helps.

you can also drill them out and run a bolt thru them.
