the motor is fine clutch kind of hates it thinking of going with some factory V6 4.88 or if I can get enough cash get some 5.29

how hard would it be to put a W56 or G52/54 into a 1st gen?
I know you have to adjust drive shafts and the crossmember can ether be turned around or budd built sells one but is there anything else

I ran Chinamans on Saturday with some buddies.  We had 11 rigs on the trail (least built was a 1 month old 4 dr JK on 37's, unlocked F&R).  We made good time and everyone got to play on all the obstacles. My buddy Cory ended up shearing his passenger side high steer arm in the upper Trunion bearing.  We pulled the Longfields out of that side and he just drove it down the trail 2 miles really slow to get off of the trail.  He had a spare driver side arm (1 hole) but not a passenger side arm.  Took us about 2 hours longer to get him down.  All in all it was a good day!

Yup!  He sold his 39.5" Iroks and steel beadlocks.  He then bought TG Creeper locks (needed 17's for the new MTR's) and mounted his newly won 40" MTR's.  They did well on the trail after he aired them down from 25psi :)

Sweet deal.  I didn't even realize that the MTR got redesigned, but looks nice.

Broomfield is a nice area.  Colorado is a great place to live for sure!

I'd suggest running Moab in the spring or fall.  It's crazy hot during the summer there.

Well then you are in for a treat!  there are lots and lots of trails out here... start with the charles wells books (http://www.funtreks.com) and/or traildamage.com

there are some great wheeling trails less then an hour from your front door.

I love this state!

I think you may have a bit too much articulation there...   :disturbed:
Are longer wheelbases better for the Stairs? I'm worried about my shortbed making it through some parts.

People always give me crap for trimming my rear fenders so high (I don't nessessary like the way it looks either) but as you can see in the first couple pics, I've got enough rear flex to fill the wheelwell.

The longer the wheelbase, the easier it is to climb "that set" of ledges.  My buddy Cory walked right up them with 112" wheelbase and I couldn't make it at 109".  Wheelbase is a funny thing.  Longer is better for those steep climbs but makes it hard to get around the really tight parts of the trails.  That's why I shot for 109", everyone recommends 107-110" for CO wheeling.

i like ur rear fenders cut up it makes those 39s fit really really nice :)

im gonna have to trim mine out some and bump stop....

wakkjobb

+1 about cutting the fenders... as long as you need to clear tires, cut away. Looking at my 37s I am wondering if they'll smack the cab; kind of looks like the 35s did before. And the bottom of the fenders are all bent up too; I'll probably end up hacking a bit off later. I remember Cory trying to get up Cleveland Rock last year and Matt (?) walked it the first or second time. Ryan (COToy91) got hung up on that Stairs part too; left a few little piles of rubber from his MTRs as well.

How can I get a longer wheelbase? Like what are the main ways to do that?   :help:
