Rebuild or Replace???
« on: Oct 21, 2006, 10:25:10 PM »
So I had a friend that has been working on Toys for like 12 years look at my V-6 truck today and he says that I need a valvue job. Says that with that damn v-6 I should just pull it out and put a 22re in it and just build it up. He says that it would cost less and it would give me more power. I just don't know if I want to give up on my v-6 or not. I want to make my truck into a bad rig but I don't really have a lot of money right now. So Rebuild the v-6, Rplace the v-6 or put a 22re in it??

I wouldn't waste you $ on a v6 rebuild.  A 22re would be cool.  Cheaper on gas and alot of aftermarket high perf part for them.  If your going to switch motors or spend any $, check out the 3rz (2.7).  Bigmike, Bevin, Marlin, and 4THEWKN (RIP) all went with the 3rz, they got some build ups on the board.  I personally can say, I want a 3rz!!  I went wheeling with 4THEWKN in his truck (my avatar), and the power and fuel economy was awesome!  If I were going to buy a motor and put it into my truck it would only be the 3RZ.  Bigmike also has a factory TRD super on his! :burnout:

yes  3.4  or  just put  valve seals  on yours without disturbing the headbolts

assuming its just burning oil  and not missing do to a bent or burnt valve :dunno:

22RE  you'll need a R151  bellhousing to keep your tranny

2.7 -3RZ  you will need a w59 bell  and  i think  a different tranny and tcase

but that motor is sweet

a 3.4  will just bolt right in

Has a very detailed explanation of what you need and how to switch to a 3.4 from a 3.0 auto/manual.  You might be able to make your own parts for cheap.  But I've seen a write up in a 4x4 mag (not sure which one) did a swap for the cheap!
