I hade one just like it...only thing that ever bothered me was that bench seat...get some suspesion seats in there and ALL good.
IFS is best kept at ambient temperature in a pile of scrap in the backyard.  When kept under a functioning vehicle, it tends to greatly diminish said vehicle's offroad ability.     -reklund5

interior--

put some new speakers in it also but thats it for a little bit cuz I just dumped $1300 on a new shotgun so im about as broke as I want to be.

Yeah some prps are definitly on the build list

KYOTA

your axle or a Diamond, dont waste your time with a 44. rat holing for double D's for the 83 myself :bling: :afro2:

Ramrod

my update is that there really isnt any i guess.  I took this up deer hunting for a few days and its a ton of fun to fireroad and I got it up to 65 on some nasty washboard and it was rock steady.  I'm gonna go pick up these 16" SAW coil overs tomorrow or monday so that means its definitly getting linked in the rear.  I'm right on the verge of ordering most of the parts for the buildup just waiting for a couple things

Ramrod

heres the shocks im gonna go get.  I scored them off pirate, bought 7 months ago and never ran

havik

well you got $1000 comeing your way. make good use with it.
and about the axel issue. i would stay toyota and get creative. chop the bottom, get spacers and make a nice diff skid for the front. use the extra money for other stuff.
glass fenders would look sick with that body. unique.
why link the rear? i would think linking the front and pushing the axel forward would be better?
iam sure what ever you do its going to turn out sick.
congrats on the nice find
got another 85 runner. build coming soon!!

Ramrod

I wanna link the rear because my front suspension I have right now flexs way more than the chevy springs ever did and im tired of the wheel hop and bad approach and departure angles.  i'm still considering linking the front but it would be alot of work with the toy front

Shamb

just picked up a 91-93ish pickup for $300

me and a buddy are going to build it, can't wait to see the finished product on "Taco Negro"

R.I.P to my Papa, I miss you pops......

Ramrod

let me know if you need anything for it, I got some stuff

Ramrod

just ordered a couple things to keep me busy while I have the drivetrain sitting here: new soft 8 rims
hydraulic assist steering , 4.7:1 tcase gears.  Basically a couple things I always wanted on my old truck but didnt ever want my truck down to put them in

Ramrod

so this bench seat was kinda annoying me lately and I dont think it was gonna work with the duals so I also just ordered up a pair of corbeau suspension seats also

just pulled apart my axles from my 86 so I could sell the aussie locked third and rear housing and axles and discovered what the whining noise and vibration was coming from on the way back from fourdyce last time: :reg:

im done with those piece of :pokinit: genuine gears for good now and am gonna get some yukons cryoed for the front and rear.

also here are the seats that came in last week---

tcase ready to pull apart--

front end pulled apart and sealed up till its time to put it back together

gotrocks

KYOTA FOREVER

Ramrod

so I never updated that the guy that was selling the coilovers backed and didnt want to sell them anymore.  For the last week ive been doing lots of researching and convinced myself that I didnt want to run the stock width toyota front anymore because it just wasnt gonna be wide enough for the tacoma so I had a few choices on what to run:

Dana 60: cost about $1000 stock, extremely heavy, very wide, would need to spend at least another G on getting it set up to work for my truck along with also having to narrow, cut and turn, blah blah but it would be the beef.

Dana 44: could be built for somewhat cheap and have decent clearance but would still need to be cut and turned rebuilt new parts throughout and still not very strong

Diamond:   :bling: :bling: :afro:: cost- $900 for the housing, badass clearance, strong, bling, any width I want, any options I want and would use all my existing parts from the axle I have except the inner axles.

So after lots of looking around and thinking and discussing with a few people today I dropped the ball and ordered up a diamond front.  The specs are: 3.5" axle tubes, 64" wide (tacoma rear+4").  I cant wait to get it but my pockets already hurting from this buy.  I also ordered a u-bolt flip kit for it and spring perches and custom length 30 spline inners.

Bobby Long came through once again and is gonna upgrade me to 30 spline birfs for $50 and im gonna step down to 4.88's for this build and have them cryoed front and rear to eliminate my breakage problems.

SIck pat. That is a bling front end for sure. Do arb for the front, worth the money IMO Its nice to have, trust me

For the rear a electric locker is perfect, even better do a cable switch instead of wiring an expensive motor that corrodes inside from water.

Ramrod

yeah right im done spending money on this thing for now.  Im gonna weld the rear and from what ive been researching the trd elocker thirds are really weak so I dont want one of them.  a arb for the front would definitly be ideal but it shouldnt matter that much with the hydro anyways

Yota4life

ya your right if you have hydro then weld the front while your at it. I thought you wanted the rear selectable for the road?
