If it was a chevrolet it wouldn't have broke
same as a gmc. curious what happened though, chevy/gmc trucks are not known to die, they're basicly the larger version of a toyota.

we was on our way to Dads grave  at the Veterans  cemetery,  to visit with him, but i missed the exit,  so  went on to the next exit,  just befor it  the jimmy started slowing down,  i checked the guages  and all looked great, 50psi oil pressure  190*  on the temp,  but it was still slowing   got over to the shoulder  but still gauges were good  then the engine light started flashing ,no smoke or weird noises at all,  then it died,  i checked the oil  and it  wasnt on the stick,  put 3 qts in  on the side of the road,   and  it started finally  but was knocking bad,  got off the road  and into macdonalds
after  sitting for about  2 hours  i checked the oil and it was WAY over full  :headscratch:

the only thing  i can think of  is  maybe  the  lifter vally  got cloged with sludge   and  kept the oil from returning to the pan  causing the motor to run  without oil

Sounds like all the oil was ar the top of the motor.  The drain ports in the head are small and whith a little gunk/buildup up there they get cloged easily. Sounds like a crank and bearings and mabye a timing chain set then it will be good to go. You will be cusing that thing whishing it was a (22r) toyota, becouse those motors are in there pretty tight.

thats horrible backspacing!

have any of yall ever looked at the price of old man emu lift kits for an fj 60/62 land cruiser? WOW!!!! for the load capacity i'd need, their medium to heavy, its just over 1600 bucks. i know its quality built like marlin crawler, but wow. reason i ask is because my dad found an 87 land cruiser at a dealership up in utah that is asking about 3k for it. if its still there after christmas (while i'm up there) then i'll see if maybe i can do a trade for my suburban.

Glen will do it for 1400$
no, not 1400 for springs lol. that includes the shackle change or whatever you call it, where the front shackles are moved to the rear of the springs. brake lines, shocks, whole 9 yards. if i get this landcruiser i'm aiming for 4-6" of lift, so make sure their flexy springs glen! i'll let yall know if i get the truck and when i've got some money for a lift.
