hey guys, mostly a post for red, but also for anybody else interested. ive found 4 complete yota 4x's here in my local town that are for sale, dont know a lot of details except from what ive seen from the street. but theres 2 first gens, 1 SFA second and 1 IFS second. all could more than likely be purchased for less than $1000.

haha, yall are determined to get me in a toyota! ok i'll put it this way. if somebody offered me what my truck was worth or it got totalled in a wreck then i'll get myself a toyota (probably a 2 door 4runner). otherwise, my truck is getting a 6" lift, 36" tires, locker in the rear (preferably upgrade to a 14 bolt full floater), limited slip in the front, i'll make half doors, roll cage, front/rear bumpers, rock sliders, put a diesel in it (if i get a toyota this list is almost identical but it would be alot of marlin products instead of other brands), and a lower ratio t-case gearing. i would like to be able to carry a few more people (hence the reason i like the 4runners alot) for summer road trips. if you manage to find someone that is interested in a 1981 gmc regular cab long bed 4x4 pickup with the 305 gasser and the sm465 manual tranny thats in solid, excellent running shape (needs a paint job and a new dash pad but is otherwise in excellent shape) that is willing to pay about what its worth (current shape is valued between 2500-3500, new paint puts it over 4000), or has a 2 door 4runner (preferably an 85 with the 5 speed but i can modify) and is willing to possibly trade then i'll seriously look into it. if yall know somebody lookin for my truck let me know and i'll send you some pictures of it.

i'm taking some time off from college, get myself on my financial feet and have money to actually do stuff so i'm probably gonna be working in the oilfield. cant argue with about 1k dollars per week.

Gosh, I have never gone through such a thorough screening process to join a club before! A few years back I was pres. of Northeast Oklahoma Trailhunters for about 4 years. It was just about 12-15 of locals that four wheeled, I moved to Tulsa and heard it fizzed out.

niceextra cab ya got there. Is the diamond plating to cover rust or protect from body damage, and how thick is it? The diamond plate shure would be better than an exo. Have ya ever been down to hotsprings ohv park in arkansas?

It had a little body damage on the pass side when we bought the body to replace the old body that had seen too many trails with tight tree turns, so we pulled it out as best we could and put the Diamond plate on as cover up and decided we liked the way it looked so sort of made a theme out of it. It is not very thick but it does take a beating and doesn't rust. Plans include a flat bed made of aluminum diamond plate.

exellent truck man. what kind of drivetrain are you running?

all stock Toyota except K&N air filter, stock trans, stock transfer, lockrite 5.29 rear, 5.29 open front, 5 in lift springs, 2 in lift shackles (front & rear), just need to keep the front tires from rubbing firewall at full compress-Any suggest other than cut out the firewall? Doesn't some of the lift springs move the front axle forward to prevent this?

crossover steering and the springs of your choice. I prefer rears up front which move the axle foward 2" without a costom hanger. :twocents:

I think I'll pick me up a new set of rear springs and take the ones off the back and move them to the front. Make a square driveshaft and order the Hy-Steer fron Marlin.
