I just think its crap how diesel is so much more expensive than gas when it is basically made from the scrap and waste of gasoline... I still think its because of how everyone all the sudden started buy tons of diesel pickups :dunno:

it is because they finally got everyone sold on diesels...but diesel really isn't a waste product any more, with the new ULSD (Ultra Low Sulphur Diesel) that the EPA has forced upon us.  It now requires it's own refining, from what i've been told.  Hell, even the diesel oil is a Low Emission formula now...

EPA  :maddest: the worst thing a Republican has ever done!

It kills me that an unelected entity can have such a universal and deleterious effect on the nation.

question:
Is low sulfur diesel only used in the US?
What about Canada and Mexico? And Europe?
If not, whats their diesel prices like?

Seems like I have read that Europe has been using low sulphur diesel for years -- and it's cheaper than gasoline there, probably because of taxation.
Dunno aboot Canada (sorry  :disturbed:) or Mexico.

if i remember correctly europes diesel is much nicer than anywhere elses, they have some diesel cars (higher end vehicles) that people in the US want but cant run off the lower quality diesel.

Morgan Stanley Analyst Sees Oil Driven To $150 By July 4

June 06, 2008: 11:47 AM EST

NEW YORK -(Dow Jones)- Strong demand from Asia will cause a short-term spike in oil prices to $150 a barrel by July 4, a Morgan Stanley analyst said Friday.

Opec knows that Asia is going through a huge growth right now, and they aren't gonna supply more oil for their needs and ours.  They are gonna keep putting out the same amount, knowing its gonna be a bidding war for the oil.  Supply and demand again!

Oil prices closed at $138 a barrel today!

Let's hope that china starts heavily regulating drivers or something  :haha:  It's funny how everybody wants to point fingers at this person or that president for the price of oil/gas, but nobody seems to remember china's input into all this.

$4.49 for 87 oct across the street from the shop today :thud:

Marlin and Christine are in Farmington, NM this weekend for the W.E. Rock event, and they called me when they crossed the Arizona border to report gas at 3.60-something. That is nearly $1 less per gallon than here in Fresno :tantrum:

I stopped shopping there.  And you forgot that great American (?) cash exporter, Wal-Mart.  I am proud to say I haven't been there in years, having learned a little about their business model - things like pushing suppliers to produce special versions of products made more cheaply so Wal-Mart can sell the "same thing" as you get elsewhere, but at a lower price.  That's just shamelessly shifty, and hearing about that was kind of the last straw for me.  They don't get my money.

BigMike

Same here. I've not shopped at Wal-Mart for 3 months now, and even then I was just getting a new fishing license. I don't know why I do this, I am sure everything from Target is made in china, but I just like supporting Target instead of Wal-mart. Even if its a bit more expensive there, I simply hate Wal Mart. A lot like my feelings for the Toyota Off Road Market :lipsrsealed:

I rarely shop at wal-bogs, but it's usually when looking for stuff I can't find somewhere else, or for the sheer fact that they're open super late.  I remember how wal-mart built a reputation of selling almost entirely U.S. made clothing, shoes, etc. until atleast the mid 90s, at least that's what I kept seeing on the news.  Buy at wal-mart, support the U.S.  :usa:

I got a kick out of something the last time I went there.  They don't have regular baking soda, just the boxes you put in the freezer and fridge  :headscratch:

I was just thinking about that!  They made a big production about so much of their merchandise being made in the USA...their advertisements showing men in hardhats and flannel shirts slapping each other on the back after a hard day's work (probably in slow motion with a flag waving in the background), yadda yadda...typical commercial pandering to the millions of people dumb enough to believe what corporate Murrica tells them.

Old Sam died in '92 or '93...I wonder if the change in selling USA goods is just coincidence?
