will stock axles handle..
« on: Jul 05, 2006, 07:21:21 PM »
hey guys, i got a question about my future setup

if you guys dont remember i have a 92 4x4 2.4, auto and its my daily driver.

i purchased a strait front axle for my truck from a board member here..

..i plan on getting marlins 5in sas kit with matching rear..
i'll be dropping my 3inch body and will be getting a 1inch.
i'll be running 35x12.5 on 16in rims
detroit tru-trac lsd in front axle
aussie lock in rear
will off course regear

now heres my question, is it nessisary for my to get longfeilds or will the stock axles hold up to those big tires...also take not that the fourbanger will get replaced with either a v6 r v8.

oh yea should i bother with the 8 inch spline for the front driveshaft?
thanks again guys

i'll be going offroading every month or so up at wellsvill ohio

at the moment I'm running 38" tsl's  on stock axles.  locked in the rear only.
saving for longs, front locker, hydro assist.

oh yeah- I'd leave a four banger init
I'm going yota JUST so I can buy from Marlin more.

if your running 5 inches of lift, yes, you are going to need that front driveline extended

is the tru trac a limited slip?  if it is then i wouldn't worry about aftermarket birfs.  I have never seen a limited slip actually limit slip.

the truetrac is made by detroit  and is actually  a small version of  how a Mack truck differential works,  kind of a gear torque biasing thing

unless you get wild with the gaspedal im sure you will be fine,  i'm assuming your building for mud, not rock crawlin

the truetrac  is great for a front diff

I broke a stock birf in the snow with 37's on a 4 banger.  if you upgrade to a bigger engine I'd say put the longs in.  I have them now (because I broke 2 profields and cromo inners down in moab) and won't look back.  If you have the money get them.  Just my 2cents

I got my longs just in time.  had them mailed to a buddies in moab.  One of the bells was cracked when I took it out.  I'm locked with 35's.  If all I did was mud and had a limited slip I think I would buy a couple of spare birfs and call it good, and tip toe around the gas.

1. If you going with a 5" lift with 35s you shouldn't need a body lift at all.
2. If you are going with a 16" rim, your tire size won't be 35X12.5 (that is a 15" size). :twocents:

If you go V8, axles aren't the only thing thats going to explode.

stock axles are fine w/ 35's  depending on how hard you beat on it at the trail.
