Well I popped the question yesterday and  she said yes.  I totally caught her off guard and she didn't even see it coming.  We were coming over to Seattle for the 4th to visit my brother and sister in-law and told grg that we should go visit Mt. Rainer.  We drove up to Paradise lodge and hiked up into the snow (pretty much right next to the parking lot) and took some pictures. We had a perfect day up there, 75 degrees and not a cloud in site.  I told her to take a picture of the mountains across from us and when she turned around I was on my knee and her mouth about droppped to the snow.  She thought I was kidding at first (I think mostly from shock) then she cried with excitement.

We will post pictures if not tonight tomorrow sometime.  So now at the roundup you can all meet the future Mrs. Gotrocks.

Ironically, my wife told me the news before I got out of bed this morning.  I can only assume that she read it on the board, but I didn't know she visited very often.

thanks guys yeah we are pretty excited about it.  in regards to the cost of everthing I actually made a deal with her.  Since she got to pick out her ring (I made the ring I asked her with and I'll post pictures of that later) and if she could keep it under her given price that I set, we'd start to save up for a newer car for her after we get married.  She wants and I want to get a new FJ Cruiser.  Hopefully someone will be selling a used one by then.  Thankfully we were able to save A LOT on the ring since we got to pick out her specific diamond and band and had them set, in only an hour.  The band was a perfect fit without any adjustments.

Sounds meant to be!
a wedding it what you make it. It can be a huge ordeal, or it can be a small affair with only immediate family, as ours was. It could not have been more perfect and less stressful.
I know a lot of woman dream of the perfect wedding, and I have seen a LOT of money spent on weddings, but unless it is someone else footing the bill you will enjoy it a lot more if you keep it low key and just enjoy your day.
My cousin and her fiance (now husband) about called the whole thing off before it even happened due to all the stress caused by the wedding planning.
Someone else we know spent a year planning her wedding, spent 10's of thousands on it, only to be divorced 6 months later.
Don't sweat the small stuff or the big stuff for that matter everything works itself out. You'll have many many MANY happy years to come together.

yeah my aunt is a wedding planning down in southern cali and she has told us about weddings she'd done that have costed over $100,000

Lady Di

Could imagine spending that kind of money on one day? And for what? To say your vows? To celebrate your new life together? You've got the rest of your life to do that.
Sure everyone loves a big fun wedding, my cousins was about the most fun I have ever had a wedding, what a blast, but then her father was paying for it anyway.

Here is the ring I made her.  Its made out of Stainless Steel.  It wasn't very easy to make.  I figured that since I love to work wiht metal she would appreciate this because I made it specially for her.  I am going to make one for myself too and we will wear it on our right hands.

gotrocks

well our parents will most likely pay for a lot of it.  we don't know what day yet but for right now we are just enjoying the moment.  We are going to figure out a day here sometime soon but for this weekend we're just going to enjoy being together.

I'm really happy for you guys, that is very cool.
Hey, isn't there a law in CA. that any person can marry others, they just need some sort of license or permit that you can easily get.
Anybody got any plans for Sept. 9?
