85 4runr's super slow build
« on: May 31, 2006, 09:01:23 PM »
Hope you all like my 85. Hope to make some progress if a brown truck ever makes it here. As it stands all drivetrsain is stock at 165,000 and the only mods are 2'' shackles, rear bumper I welded up, a bikini top my mom made and some little 33's. Plans are for yj's up front, f150's in the rear and highsteer. Anyways a few pics to start :crossed:

Got the shock mounts tacked up andd flexed for some shock measurements. Has a little vib going down the road is this due to no shocks beings it has this when I hit a bump? When I finish the front the back should go quick hopefully

Got some shocks on yesterday and took it down the road dives fairly decent but feels kida like it floats does this sound like the springs are a little to soft or the shackles maybe a little to long?

Gebus, this thing is SLOW!  Hey, larger tires and some more offset in the wheels will net you a couple more inches of front articulation!

got it all back together and went for a drive today does real good no wobble but it seems to have some bump steer is this normal for high steer or do I have something set up wrong? Like I said drives straight no vibes just when I hit bumps in the road you can feel the wheel twitch. :headscratch:

looking good. If you want some more clearence to clear bigger tires just use some bigger shackles. This is looking really good and a clean looking rig.

The spray in liner looks good, is that a factory roof rack? I have never seen one of those racks before.

The spray in liner looks good and so does the rig.  How about some pics of you wheeling it.
