Chris! Nice to see you on here! :gap:

No update right now, I got 2 new sets of jackstands, and started pulling the 10bolt apart.  Didn't get too far, Been working on yota stuff too much, left all the tools I need to work on this stuff at my folks house   Haven't needed them for the past 2 years, but I guess now I do :gap:

So I'm looking at some gear ratio options.  Its looking to me like the 10 bolt gear ratios available only go up to 5.13

I had 5.29s in my yota stuff, I guess stepping down a little doesn't hurt, but I was hoping to run 5.38s.  I'm honestly not finding a whole lot in terms of information on the 10 bolt.  I know its out there, just haven't found it yet.  Am I correct in 5.13 being the lowest ratio?    I plan on running 36-38" tires for the time being.

Got some work done on my front axle today.

View from my workspace :gap:

Pulled the cover, let the gear oil drain out.  Let the work begin!

Pass. side hub

Question:

What is that thing inside?  It appears to be some sort of nut, but I can't tell?  Need a special tool to remove?  I got the nut that looks like a gear off this side, got it to spin of with a screw driver.  Drivers side, not so lucky.  I'm guessing there's a special socket for that piece as well?

I'm guessing once I get that off, I can pull the rotor of the spindle?

Ball joints were not working with me today

Pass. side done

When you don't have the right tool for the job, make do:

Both ball joints on the drivers side decided to cause problems

scuffed up the ears on this side a bit  :_oops:

Gears are out:

Dont think the carrier is supposed to look like that

pinion

still gotta pull this out of the ear.

anyone know if these are studs or bolts through here?  either way, they're just spinning in the housing.  won't come out.  I broke the bolts or the studs loose, whatever they are, instead of the nut :smack:
