Hi steer problems
« on: Mar 10, 2006, 02:37:06 AM »
Hey Guys

A mate is geting a SAS done here in aus and is using hi steer that evry1 buys in aus.

The place that is doing the conversion are now saying that the hi steer is no good and they are going to make there own.

WTF they say that there is too much pressure on the king pin bearing as the angle from the hi steer to the links is wrong??

They wont let us see whats goin on and have striped the hi steer off.

Has any1 had a similar problem ?

Rather than new steer arms could you just rotate the knuckles forward or back to gain the correct angle?

Any help appreciated
dave

I don't know what the situation is, but I have never heard of a problem with the trunion bearings being effected buy a high steer arm.

If you turn the nuckle you will effect the caster, this should only be done if you need to correct for rotating the pinnion up.

Good luck,
Mark

This is why I do all the work myself.  :yesnod:

I call shenanigans...they are trying to rip you off.   :maddest:
IFS is best kept at ambient temperature in a pile of scrap in the backyard.  When kept under a functioning vehicle, it tends to greatly diminish said vehicle's offroad ability.     -reklund5
