2 Problems that I need help with.
« on: Jan 16, 2004, 03:50:22 PM »
I have a 95 Tacoma 4x4 ext cab.  I have noticed that when I get up to high speeds at about 60mph I get a wobble in my steering wheel and gearshift.  Then when I get up to about 70 it goes away but when I slow down again while it is around 60 it comes back.  There is some kind of vibration I need to find.  Does anyone have an idea what this may be?  I was thinking maybe U-Joints or that Carrier bearing thing I don't know too much about what that does or if it goes bad.    Second  problem, today I went to start my truck and as soon as it started it died.  After about 3 times I revved it and it stayed idleing.  Normally I never have to touch the gas it just starts right up.  It did this 2 different times today then at the end of school I started it like normal and had no problems.   Anyone had this problem before??  Any Ideas?   I'm new to the computerized world of Tacos and I could use some advice.

Most common is a bent rim, or tire ballance. Also check front motor mounts, loose rear u-bolts, bent drive shaft ect....
Check for water in gas, plugged fuel filter....

If I go get new tires and I have them balance them and do the alignment then that should tell me if it is in the wheels right?  They should also be able to tell me whether a wheel is bent?  I have the stock alloys can those bend or do they just crack?

They could get  out of wack too. But all that will eliminate the wheels

Just try changing the wheels and tires to something else and have them balanced/aligned.

And I would take Marlin's advice and check your fuel filter.

You might want to dump a can of fuel injector cleaner/gas dryer in the gas tank too. During winter moisture can collect in your tank.
