1. Will a v6 3rd fit into a 4cyl housing without clearancing?  what needs to be clearanced if it doesn't?

2. are front and rear 3rds interchangable, or are they different?

I just put V6 thirds in my 4cyl,  the front and rear went with ease.  The V6 thrids that I found had the 4.88's and  I did no clearancing to fit.  Good luck

i'm gonna put a V6 4.88 3rd member in my front axle.  on test fitting it i found that it wouldn't go in.  i figured out my problem, the flange for the 3rd member is double thick, and while the top layer of the bottom notch was cut out, it was barely cut on the bottom layer.  i took my angle grinder to it and all is well
