Does anyone use the search function? I keep seeing the same questions asked over and over and new threads started over and over about the same stuff all the time. Try it, who knows you may be surprised and find what you're looking for instead of starting yet another thread asking the same question. I know this aint Pirate where everyone yells "SEARCH!" every chance they get but I dont think there are many people that use it at all?

brainlessfool

I'm still looking for it. don't see it. Can't I just keep asking the same ?s over and over?
A good day working, that's just sick :reg:

LMAO!! being as my life is lived in the CCC, I don't much have use of it for questions, but I have used it to search for stuff I posted and forgot where I put it    :headscratch:   now where DID I put that!!    :boozer:

But having been on an AutoCAD board for years, I used the :slap: "the search engine is used for exactly this purpose" technique more then once.

is there anything on a Newbie board that says "search first"? Not that anyone reads it anyway.

I just stuck it here (since it just my little rant) but its meant for the entire board

Lady Di

should I search the board first to make sure it wasn't ranted about already first?

Valid rant for sure! I feel your pain.

BTW I did a search before I started the search thread about searching :ha_ha:

Lady Di

the search function is pretty clunky on there though, I've tried to use the advanced feature but it doesn't seem to work

Tried to find stuff I know I posted and limited the search by user, but it didn't work.

Like my ol man always told me, "If you cant find it, your not looking hard enough"  I think it works pretty good, gotta weed thru some crap sometimes but when I use it I've always found what I was looking for, and if not its because that info isnt here.

I use it when looking for info or trying to find an old topic, just yesterday I basicaly answered the same question twice. I did just refer the second poster to the first poster for his info.

I just searched my screen name and the only result was my response to the christmas card list thread.

Personally I think the search feature on this forum sucks.  I can put in a thread title, and it will not find it.  :dunno:  Its usually easier to scan the thread title pages.  I love the forum, and Big Mike and the Mods have done a great job maintaining it, and creating it, so I just choose not to use the search option :dunno:

The only thing about this forum I would like to see changed is the original post for a thread would stay at the top of all pages.
Just my :twocents:

BigMike

Do you mean, just so that if you are on like page 5 or something, you could still read the opening post?

Yes so you won't have to go all the way to the first post to find out what the heck everyone is talking about.

whiteman

I use the search every now and then but I don't even like it.  It is easier to start a new topic and wait for replies.

kneedownnate

I think just about as many people use the search option as the spell check when you post.......
