i got a decent amount of work done on the truck tonight. a few nights ago i tried driving it over to idioticmans place to work on it but the thing drove SO violently at 10/12mph that i thought the front of the truck was going to fall off or in half so i just went around the block and parked it back at my place. since the housing is bent and the camber is so trashed it wasnt possible so i got it towed over there an hour later or so. heres what i got done tonight.

1. pulled it in and took off the wheels to tear apart and remove the front axle. colby was workin on the grill/hood on the 5 oh.
2. lame bent housing. (right knuckle ball)
3. blingin new housing (thanks sloyota), oh wait, note to self, self, dont clean up the new housing so blingin you could see your reflection in it, then leave town and have your asshat friends paint it neon pink while your gone.  :slap:
4. everythings almost out
5. " "
6. looks like an sas. everything out.
7. got the steering box undone and moving it as forward as i can.
8. apart and starting to cut the body a bit.
9. took apart some toy rears and im removing the main leave in the marlin pack and replacing it with the toy rear mains and removing the bottom leaf of the marlin packs all together. my goal is to lower this truck 2".

were talking about doing a double bed bob on this to move the rear axle foward 4-5 inches. the wheel base is getting out of hand and will be at 126 1/2"s or so. i was thinking maybe 5" out of the front of the bed and 7" out of the back. what are your guys' thoughts. i have it here so i can do everything i need to now. i dont really plan on driving this thing till i get it where i want it for the most part.

that could be sick if your down for the work.  I suggest cutting off that lower spring perch from the pass side of the front axle just to clean it up a lil more

sloyota

that housing is :bling:like the paint scheme, matches your truck..shorting your wheel base would help alot.

glad your getting some use out of that housing.cant wait for this snow run.. :beerchug:
I'm not responsable for my own action's.

Ramrod

shorting it up a bit would be pretty sick actually just make sure the gas tank wont be in the way of the axle

you mean where you have to weld that plate onto it so the front end sits level? if so i just cut it off and am going to weld it onto the other axle. im gunna drill it 1" back for the center pin

since i have that 2" body lift i have enough room under there to actually lift the tank like 3 1/2" with some simple angle iron. ill figure it out. im not sure what to do about the bed. i just dont want it to look like :pokinit: all hacked up. i want to paint it or something. i deffinetally would like the WB at 121ish though.

well i just got home and im done for now. i got centerpins for leaf springs ages ago, (seriously probably 2 years ago) but there the wrong size so im going to get ones that are an exact fit so i have to unbolt my hybrid marlin pack . i also couldnt just use the main leaf but had to use the first 2 rear toy leafs for the pack to work. heres a few as i go.......

1. only have a grinder, cutoff wheel, baffle so heres how i made my rear shackles. one day while sitting on the computer i had a poker chip next to me and it made perfect templates to cut on the shackles i had made a while back. cutoff wheel, then grind smooth.

3. sleaved the frame with 1"x1/4" dom. heres the mock up w/o plate.
4. " "
5. then with the plate all welded up.

yeah,

found the dog, i swear im going to kill her. . .. she leaves, then about 1.5 hours later just kinda wanders back in like she was never gone. . . .pisses me off.

that plate turned out real nice if you ask me :P  ill work on getting the steering shaft lengthened and all legit tomorrow evening, and see if i cant get that line loose on the box and start in on tapping the box for hydro assist.

Everything is going pretty smoothly on kyles truck so far.  since the housing is clean im trying to convince him to rotate the knuckles, but hes afraid it might mess up the drivability of the truck.  also we are going to slap on hydro assist right now too.  i have a really nice 8" assist ram that came on my D60 that im not going to use so i gave it to him.  we will stop the ram to work with the toy axle, but since its 8" it will work with a dana axle as well (D60).

as for ride height, i think the idea is to single shackle the rear, and ditch the blocks, then make the front match. . . . .right?  i still say you are going to have to take out another of the longer leafs to get it to settle down to match the rear.  also, relocating the rear shocks, and ditching the LSPV.

i think kyle just decided on bobbing the rear of the bed, if he ever steps into a real tire (42" Irok) 126" will be fine

the duals will be in as soon as we find that intermediate roller bearing that goes between the high and low range gears. . . .seems to have been misplaced as of now.

kyle, get a T100 pan and pickup. . . .no use fawking with it later on down the road, do everything you need to do right now since its in the shop.

did i miss anything?. . . . . . oh yeah, lower motor mount in the rally car tomorrow before i help you.

kiyul4130

i guess the ram will work, check.

cutting the knuckle balls off then rotating, im kinda over since i like to drive my junk on the highway. i dont want to fug it up and have it drive like ass.

um, 42s with a 125ish wb not so bad???? i guess not......... ???

T100 oil pan, ya i need to bad. im still not done with my SAS and its been 3 years haha.

motor mount the wanna be red rocket, fine i guess.....

i got a little bit more done this evening. i got the marlin/hybrid pack all done. the trucks on its own weight on the new blingin  :stopit: housing. it WONT STAY PINK. sorry. the springs are a lot flatter and i should see a difference in height (hopefully atleast 1 1/2" lower). i also got my duals all together but FORGOT THE OIL SEAL IN THE DUAL CASE ADAPTER. DOES ANYONE KNOW IF ITS EXTREMELY IMPORTANT I RUN IT???? tomorrow im going to mock up the knuckle ball gussests, cut out the lower spring perch on the pass side and weld up the plate on the drivers side that levels out the truck. fully weld everything and place it all back in with my new 3rd that has like 15miles on it and start throwing stuff back together. next will be the hydro assist then start on the back suspension.
