I have dozens of dash plagues I mount them to a magnetic backing and stick them on the fridge, then I can also throw them on my dash since a 1st gen has a metal dashboard face instead of the plastic ones that came on later years.

So, you can pick me up? I don't know where I-10 is exactly, but I haven't had a vacation since my freshman year in highschool, so this would definitely make my year!

It would be the best vacation ever! I would even bring my camera (I'm a photographer) and take all of the photographs!

  same here, rs!
We have options of where to start our turn N.
Where about are you? I was thinking of going I-10 all the way to Cali, then I-5 to I-40 to Fresno to meet up with Marlin again. And then N. to the Placerville, KOA again.
We plan to be in Cali about the same time we were last year. We'll leave the weekend before MCR5, and get to Fresno by about Tues./Wed.
Probably spend one night there and try to get up to the springs early depending on FFC's and BD's schedule.
Any thoughts on this route? We can alter it depending on the caravaning.

After MCR5 we'll have a week or so to muck around on some other cali trails back in the Fresno area with whoever is available. Hopefully Marlin :crossed: and a few others.

hey are you guys going to set up at that RV place near the Loon side again like last year?

Lady Di

Last year we were at the Placerville KOA which is the closest maintained campground to the trail, but it was still a good hour ride (of course 45 minutes of that is just getting up the road to the trailhead.

Is that the one you were talking about, Kyota? I know there's a campground about half way up the road to Loon Lake, but I believe it is a first come first serve with no hookups. I don't know about the odds of getting the RV up there, and I don't believe there is any sort of security to it.

We'll be taking the dogs on the trail with us this year, so there is no reason to necessarily keep it at a KOA other then we'll be more sure it will be safe there. I believe FFC was going to look at staying at the KOA as well. I know yotaboy79 will be. It would be cool to get a good crowd there together to caravan to the trailhead again.

They have primative camping and cabins as well as RV hookup spots.

this is the camp ground @ Loon.

Lady Di

Thanks RLW, but Mark doesn't think it's a good idea to try to take the motorhome up that road to Loon. It's too long and steep.
I think the KOA is the best option for us.
