last year, the official channel was 10.  i would assume lt'll be the same.
Last year the official channel was SUPPOSED to be 10 but they switched off on us and no one said anything, I think they ended up on 16 or something.
But it started out as 10 being the official channel. Are we going to do that again?

:yesnod: EARLY Friday morning would work for us. With an emphasis on early so we can get to the trailhead and on the trail with plenty of time to get to the springs.
Can't wait either!  :bud:

I think we're going in Loon side this year, but I think Ima park at the staging area below the damn.

Lady Di

When are you planning on heading out Kyota? You're probably better off at that staging area. Looked the the other one can get to be a real cluster :pokinit: to get out of.

KYOTA

head down Thursday morning (11 hr drive) and either crash at my buds place in Penryn and head out @ sunrise or stay at the  campground and tow up with the group in the morning, not sure yet. Depends on if my buddys close their shop down Friday to wheel.

Lady Di

Cool!

And yeah, FFC, going in @ Loon. I still have last years tracks saved on our GPS, but I assume someone we are going with will know the way.
I could not see how you could know which way to go if you weren't with someone else that knew where they were going.
That is craziness out there.

   same here, rs!
We have options of where to start our turn N.
Where about are you? I was thinking of going I-10 all the way to Cali, then I-5 to I-40 to Fresno to meet up with Marlin again. And then N. to the Placerville, KOA again.
We plan to be in Cali about the same time we were last year. We'll leave the weekend before MCR5, and get to Fresno by about Tues./Wed.
Probably spend one night there and try to get up to the springs early depending on FFC's and BD's schedule.
Any thoughts on this route? We can alter it depending on the caravaning.
sounds perfect cause I'm off from midnight that Monday till the following Monday and could roll up to Fresno with you or at the very least meet you there depending on your timing of hitting the I-10 / I - 5 junction that is within minutes of my home and work whichever I leave from. I'll have to find a place around that junction for us to meet but I'll get back to you on that one.

Here is the link for the Placerville, KOA.
http://www.koa.com/where/ca/05429/

There is also a KOA in the Fresno area that we will be staying at when we get out that way.
I'm going to reserve a site at the Placerville KOA from Thurs. to Mon., do you have that following Monday off too?

The Fresno KOA is: http://www.koa.com/where/ca/05180/
I made my reservation at the Placerville KOA but won't make one at the Visalia one till we get close to there.
Last year the Placerville one was sold out.
So if nothing else, depending on when we get there, you could meet us at that Fresno KOA too, but it would be cool to roll up to Fresno with you.

MrsW, how bout we get an idea of how many folks are gonna camp with us and maybe get a few sites and everyone who arrives splits the costs :dunno: I really don't need my own site, and I have no problem pitchin in... and any other solos who may have plans to join up :headscratch: :dunno: Just an idea

I like MrsW's idea also of having name tags "Hi my name is..." with the screennames and real names on it. That'll help a lot knowin who's who instead of havin to ask "what's yer screenname" :silly:

Lady Di

Yeah, that was weird last year. People came up to us when we were in the mammoth, so they knew who we are, and I kept having to ask "and you are?"

Even if you see people pics on here, it's still not the same when you meet in person.

And FFC, as far as splitting costs of a site, I think that will depend on what the KOA allows.
If it is one tent per primitive site, or if you can have a few on one, I don't know. We'll have a large RV site of course.

You may even be able to set up your tent on the RV site. We'll have to find out.

MrsW, I believe there is an allowance on tents in RV sites, and in the tent sites there is a limit... at some cg's the limit is like 6 tents :dunno: bout KOA though... Hey, I got a reclining seat in the Migo  It wouldn't be the first time I slept in it

yep as of right now I was planning on just sleeping in whatever truck I'm driving . but I do have a tent in case I don't get to drive my own rig.
oh but there is a like 10% chance I'll be towing whatever rig I'm going to wheel so I have a back-up if it breaks and I can't fix it.

Ill have atleast one other person with me so I'll be setting up my lil pup tent. Is BD going to be coming along this year too? FFC your hilarious, go to bed early thurs night...with all those folks there? Haha, were going to have a crawlin party

haha well it looks like i'm moving to roseville in a month so i guess its just gonna be a short little jaunt up the hill for me to get to the con so i'll probably just roll up the hill with all yall and rockscrambler if you have never been up there before i think you will really regret not bringing a tent because its gonna be cold as heck just like last year at night and a air matress is always key

well you guys can  the night away if you like, just be ready to go at the crack of dawn! Sounds like we're going to have a good size caravan, the sooner we hit the road Fri. the better.

Well this will be a great experience, rs! I was just thinking, we went up there Friday last year, would anyone be available to go in Thur. rather then Fri.? Or can't anyone get away?
I guess that will depend on when we get to Cali too, but we were there by Tues. last year, I think. I'd have to look at our sightings of thread.
Yes, it would have to be, we were at the Placerville, KOA by Thur. but didn't get on the trail till after noon on Friday, and then we had to race in to the springs.
I want to have time to play. We'll definetly go out to play on Sat.
