I seen these pics on this site and i was wondering how they handle on and off road...............im guessing the axle rap is UNREAL, but that is just a guess. If you are useing this set up and you like it let me know what kinda spring you are useing because i have need for more flex .

thanks

The white yota is an old picture of me on the flex ramp. That was around last winter. Id have to agree with most the people here that buggys are a death wish. Sence then i have gotten rid of them because its so unstable on declines and just everything you can think of. Everytime you get on the gas you can feel the leaf wrap, caused a ton of axle wrap and on top pf that The unloading almost made me flip over a few times.....Now im running a flex joint and im 50 times more happy with them and i still get the same amount of droop. Heres my thread on how i set the joint up http://board.marlincrawler.com/index.php?topic=11133.30

so what happens when you have to back up with the buggy leaf??the tire gets pushed against a big ass rock and gets shoved under the truck bending the buggy leaf??seen in happen a few times..man thats got to suck..

You know Mr4x4...I saw that happen come to think of it, out at Little Sluice was one of those Jackass wheelin club dudes....don't remember the name to be exact :headscratch: but he had his rear tire wedged in between a rock and a hard place and I remember the picture...wasn't pretty :headshake:

It was Jackass Rockcrawlers or something similar to that...there were like 8-10 rigs with their stickers on em.... :headscratch: He got wedged under a rock and just kept goin...looked pretty gnarly

He was talking about Yota4lifes flex joint, not the buggy springs.

anyone ever thought of putting an atv winch back there. so you could have your suspension sucked tight on the street and when backing up offroad. sure it takes a little more time but its an idea

  • Don't blame me, I didn't vote for this crap.

No droop on road is like cranking your torsion bars tight and riding the droop bumpstops.  You hit a bump and all is fine till the suspension comes bck to the top and wham!  The travel ends.  bad deal...

I wont try to help someone use this setup.  I wheeled with a couple guys that ran it this weekend.  If someone puts it in and decides to keep it and figure out a way for it to work more power to them but I wont help 'em. ;)

buggy leafs blow monkey.  dont bother.  just run a dual shackle/missing link setup  it is much more predictable. i never had a problem with mine bouncing around or anything (probably because i had them setup right)
i also ran a traction bar due to my enormus axle wrap from my soft springs  (pinion moved 6 to 8 ")

heres mine at work

Have a buddy who ran the buggy spring set up on his samurai with 33's.  W were playing in Ravensdale try to make it up a hill , we hit it pretty fast and the back end came off the ground, when it landed all the pressure of the buggy springs slapping the frame broke it in half. :smack:
