a flowmaster or magnaflow with a header will definitley be loud.  i had a old 2 chamber flow master on mine for years.  it got annoying after a while.  now i have a cherry bomb turbo muffler(not a glass pack), and it sounds a lot better.

on my 3.0 4runner i had a magna flow with no cat wasnt too loud
magna flow uses a straight through desigh wioth just packing

on my 2rz i was running that same magna flow cut in half and repacked, it was coming right off the down pipe. it was louder than an ls1 running baffled headers, and it souded really good.

i just tryed a supertrapp muffler wich only last a couple hours before i ripped it off(literaly) i doesnt sound that good

Put a v8 in the truck, then any muffler will sound good.  :D

I have a MagnaFlow and I'm happy with it.  little grumble at low rpm's but it can get a bit loud at higher rpm's.

i've also got 2 1/4" piping all the way out.

I have a delta flow 40 series on my truck (its a 3.4). and i love the way it sounds. I have heard this muffler on a 2.7 as well and while it does indeed sound a bit more ricey (not the mufflers fault), it still sounded good. Magnoflow's also tend to have a nice sound.

I need an new exhaust on the cheap. So, I went with a 30" glass pack and now my 3.0 sounds like a small Cessna flying over...

I'm running a Flowmaster 40 series with 2.25" pipe on my 4runner, its loud... sounds alright, i ran the same muffler on my old Toyota pickup with the same engine (22re) with only 2" pipe instead of 2.25" and i though that the truck sounded better.

"Later, I learned that even though I engage 4WD my hubs are not automatically locking? Something about manual locking hubs I think. What's manual mean? I need to read a manual to lock them? lol  So I found these neat autolocking hubs and installed them. Sometimes they dont stay locked while I am backing up, but that's fine because I dont have a backup camera to see where Im going (like our RV) so I just simply dont ever back up"- BigMike

I run the cheap($24) Raptor Turbo mufflers behind both my 3.0 and 22re.  I had run an Downy hugh flow muffler but it droned a bit too much for my likes.  The Raptor has a nice throaty sound and is cheap enough to replace as often as needed.  I have 5yrs on one and 2 on teh other, then again I don't lie in the rust belt either.

Is the hedman a 4 into 1 header or a tri-y?  I had a cheaper long tube 4 into 1 before with straight pipe to a glasspack and I really liked the way it sounded, just got too loud for even me.

I switched to a NWOR tri-y and a magnaflow - 18" body, 2.5" in/out, and I honestly don't care for the way it sounds.  I'll be building a new exhaust from the header back to the back of the truck, but if I still don't like the way it sounds I'll probably be switching back to a 4 into 1 header.

Do a google search for toyota 02 sensor elimination and see what comes up.  I stuck an aftermarket pipe on my 01 street bike but it didn't have the bung to mount the 02 sensor, so a little research netted me a sensor eliminator which has worked great for years.  It's just a little unit that mounts to the plug for the sensor and tricks it into thinking everything's fine.
