I think this truck is done for after this weekend it took a serious beating and I broke more stuff than on every other trail ride combined and I dont think I trust it to drive to the trail and back anymore.  I dont know yet if im gonna buy another truck or get a tow rig yet but need to figure it out soon I guess here is the damage list:

broken motor mounts
smashed hood
cracked radiator
all rocklights shattered
radiator core support and whole front clip destroyed and out of wack
all pins and studs for drivers side hub sheared
passenger door dented so much it wont close

probably more still I just dont feel like looking at it right now.  Im sure someone I was with will post up some pics

Ramrod

just unpacking the truck I noticed oil all over the entire thing pretty much and it turns out that my front third has some sort of damage allowing the pinion to move all over the place and the seal must be shot.  this thing is fawked.  and my license plate also got ripped off and lost.

Fordice is one of the hardest trails we have ever run.  It tore all of our trucks up.  both of us flooped our truck twice this weekend and had some hub trouble.  My hub wouldn't unlock or move at all.  I tried taking it apart and the gear inside wouldn't come out.  So i left it and delt with it later on the trailer.  Took it out of gear and then the hub gear slid right out.  I have no idea what was wrong with it.  The spring looked a little messed up.  pats decided to ram a stump which put a leak in his radiator.  They popped a couple egss in it to stop the leak.  Well, the leak stopped but we think it also clogged some ports in the radiator.  He then took out the thermostat so it wouldn't heat up as bad.  It still heated up so he pulled his hood and drove like that thre whole trail.  this weekend was fugged up the whole time.

everything I broke this weekend was while trying to help someone else out.  originally I didnt want to dent my truck this weekend but it didnt work out.  I rolled onto the side trying to get to brad so I could pull him out and thats what broke the motor mounts and then after that I couldnt get around a stump sticking out of the bank and thought I could goose it around it but that didnt work then I was turning around on  a narrow part of the trail to give my buddy a tug and thats when the hub let loose.  I wish someone had some footage of me pulling a samurai across the river and up the hill that was savage

motorider228

you should buy a clean truck body wise and just tear everything off your current vehicle and stick it on that and exo it. Is your motor still running well? because didn't you recently like rebuild the whole thing and go with an efi swap?

Ramrod

the truck still drives great up and down the freeway all day but only with a little grease shooting out of the giant hole where the front hub is supposed to be.  I am really torn between building a new truck or getting a tow rig and trugifying this one.  If I get a new rig to build with this drivetrain it will be a 2nd gen 4 runner but they are really hard to find with a 22re.  We will see I just have to wait a couple weeks to get some good pay slips and approved for a loan I guess

Yota4life

I think motorider is still selling his 2nd gen runner with a 22re.....clean too

thanks, just checked it out but LV is a little far and i'm leaning farther and farther towards the tow rig side every hour because I really dont have the space or time or want to do another sas not to mention all the other hundreds of hours of work on other crap on this thing but its still up in the air

RHG

Get a tow rig, some new parts and sheetmetal for this truck and youll be good to go. Go junkyarding for some fenders and another set of doors. Oooooh ooops, forgot bout that radiator support. haha you need one of them too. But after you put some new skin on that thing then you and Brad need to invest in a decent tube bender cause I think his truck is close to being buggyfied. I seen a nice Land cruiser today, dunno what year or model, not too savvy on them yet but its prolly a 60-70's year, it was built and "trail rated" Its sexy. I want one now, but I need to tend to my money pit truck.

Wheel it until it dies then,

Buy a 2nd or 3rd gen 2WD 22RE and SAS it, much cheaper, and usually virgin when purchased. That way you know that no one was messing around with the wiring or the frame. Uusually less frame rust too. Swap all your junk in with some new hub studs.

It's cheaper than getting a tow rig and a tandem flatbed trailer. My :twocents: .

it is cheaper but i don't have to worry about breaking my truck anymore, it alwasy has a way home one way or another  :)

Ramrod

alright I have the plan set and finalized in my head now.  I dont have the time or space to build a whole truck again so i'm keeping the one I have and also after looking into it I wont be able to get a good tow rig for about 3 more months when I have a better work history and better pay so for the time being I am just going to keep on building it like I have a tow rig because I barely drive it anymore since I no longer work out of town.  I just got a bender from a friend so in a couple weeks when I have all the parts i'm going to tube out the front clip and cover it with new fenders and a hood

Ramrod

i'm going to cut off all sheet metal from the cab foward basically and run some of those iron cross shaped head lights.  Then after that i will proceed with my normally scheduled build up plans
