so I got a little more done on the truck this weekend... a good buddy came over and helped cut out floor sections for extend-a-toy. its finally starting to come together!!!  I cant wait... hopefully by next weekend I will  have my parking brake hooked up and my floor completely in....  the tranny hump is going to be about 2 inches more narrow than it shows in the pics but it gives you an idea for mock up...

thanks for the good words guys...  I didnt realize how labour intensive this would all be... to do it right anyways..(or as close to "right" as I feel..)  its coming along though...

that rectangle cutout i the floor isnt actually the back of the cab.. it still goes back another 1.5 feet behind the back of the cutout...
that cutout is actually going to be a dropped down floor well by about 3-4 inches I think....I want more room for your feet just to make sure your knees wont be at your chest...  it should give the impression that there is even more room back there when you are sitting in the extended cab portion.... I really am hoping that I will have this damn floor done by the end of the weekend....

woo hoo!! I scored an entire rear diff out of an auto 97 4runner limited with an elocker for a very good price....I dont know what ratio it has but my research shows that it could be either 4.10, 4.30 or if it has the big tire package there is a good chance that it will be 4.56 or even better 4.88s....we will see i guess...

my idea behind this was to use this complete axle in the rear and then eventually buy a high pinion elocker for the front.... does this make sense at all to do??? I am kind of lost at this point in which direction to go.... anyone know if this axle is the same width as the 89-95 erra??? are parts interchangable.... this is the info i cant seem to find...

I have given some thought to this as well so I am hoping that getting professionally sprayed boxliner on the complete cab floor and part way up the side will cancel any and all cab noises and echos...(hopefully!!! :shudder:)

I have a few updates as well.. just no pics to post yet.... anything else that I post for the next little while is just gonna look like every other pic i took in the last 2 months so when something new and cool is finished that isnt my floor I will have some fresh stuff to post.

Geez, I better post something so my build doesnt slip too far back!!!

I have been able to spend the last few day finally again with the truck.. my girlfriend is gone for 7 weeks so i have some spare time again

i am still pissing around trying to get this floor done and I made a bit more progress... i built cab corners and integrated the rear cab body mount into them as well...pretty much the entire back end of the floor is done and the final pieces are almost ready to be welded in.... I got started o the tranny tunnel as well and should have that solidly in place soon....

here are some pics..

Love your project, can't wait to see how it comes out.  i'm gathering parts/getting ready to do something pretty similar.  How much did you stretch the cab?  i have an '80 sb and bought a '79 long bed from the junkyard.  thinking i want to put the short bed on the long frame, maybe try to move the r. axle back so i can keep the sb un-bobbed and still have a decent ext cab.  your floor is also an inspiration.  your truck looks to have had rust holes in the very same places both my trucks do.  i patched them in my '80 this fall, but that was such a PITA i think i'm just going to replace the whole thing.  is that 2x3 tubing you replaced your rockers with?

thanks for the good responses....  just please dont try to make it to similar ;)

anyways, I dont have a measurement for how long i stretched the cab.. i just took another cab and kept it as long as i could and sqarely welded it to the back of this one.. then i added another top cab piece to fill in the gap to make up the difference with how I stretched the floor....you also will have to cut almost all the way around the top cab corners and pull up to make the roofline match the front... a lot of work!
here is a pic..

the rocker is indeed made of 2x3 1/8 inch steel..

as for what coming up... i am almost now finished the floor and soon will be onto the roof... I will be taking a early 90s runner with a power sunroof and grafting that in to this one...
also, at a local wrecker, two 97 runner limited trucks came in and i managed to grab both complete elockers and harnesses too.... I am quite happy with this!!!  as well, i also grabbed a complete diff out of a 92 runner for the rear of my truck.. this way I should only need wheel spacers for the front.... I am sending my birfs away too to get smurfed next week as well.... so much to do and sooooo little time..

here are yet a couple more pics of my floor....almost done

thanks for the good comments guys.. i worked hard on it this weekend but didnt seem to get to far... benp came over and welded the rest of my body mounts on and I worked somemore on the cab.... this thing is sooooo labour intensive!!! I also cut out the passenger side wheel well and made it a lot bigger using 4inch x 1/16 flat stock... that took way too long and I still have to do the drivers side yet...

anyways, here are the pics that kind of look like other pics that I have already posted

here is my doner 1990 rear diff..

here is a crappy shot of the wheel well I built... it looks crazy thick but its only 1/16 thick..

here are some "buckets "o" elockers" for ya!!!!

and lastly, a shot of what I did to the floor today... the floor is completely formed now..  just have to fill it in with checkerplate now....
