thats crazy!, nathan sounds like you just need to do a little upkeep on your truck.  It doesnt take very much wheeling at all to bend those rims and I bet thats what making your truck shake like that.  Past that theres so much :pokinit: that can make your truck rattle and loud.  A bent driveshaft is probably the loudest thing ever because it vibrates the whole truck

My pile vibrates soo bad too. My slip-joint on my rear dl is wore out and my 4th gear is rough as heck! I can't stand it!

Im going to check all the rear flanges and probley get a new d-shaft made. Check my wheels too also and see if any are bent. I want to get up to the snow asap.

Pat when you had your 22re did you run the timming 5*BTDC? Seems like mine is bogging at lower rpms a little. Would it make sense to advance it to 8* or so? Im going to play around with it.

I know the new slip i had put on about a year ago is wasted now...... Didn't last more that a couple trips.

Yes i would pack all the grease i could in there, then the zerk broke off. I put 300$ into it. New CV kit + new slip kit. The grease always worked its way out and all over the underside or the cab. Tomarrow im going to check it all out and see whats up. Run it up on jackstands.

Sense moving the front axle and removing the bottom leaf from the front spring pack it sits noticeably lower. Good thing. Now i want to remove the rear 2.5" blocks bringing the rear lower and that should help with all the axle wrap i get, For now....
I want to get it sitting lower so its more stable. After a couple snow runs i want to get the rear 4 linked

Time for a convertable?

Not sure what hes got planned but i bet the front clip is coming off because that got smashed pretty good. The grill was pretty jacked up and the truck looked like it was frowning with the crooked head lights on.  :sad2:

Stick a glob of grease in the slip and then put the u-joint end of the slip in and slam it down on the ground. Only way to do it, i dont think its possible to get the rest of the zerk out to put a new one on. They only last about one trip till a rock meets it.

Ya if you could manage to get the threads from the old one out.... The d-line shop said they couldnt get it out. So i just put a tack weld over it so the grease wouldn't fling out of it.  I think im going to keep this one as a spare and get one made from high angle or something of that sort.

If it means anything to u...Im really happy with my high angle shafts.....They screwed them up the first time...but they made it right and I am happy

Thats good to hear.  What did they screw up? How much did it cost for the rear shaft?

There was some confusion about the correct flanges I needed...not a big deal....They didnt get the correct information from me about my truck. I cant remember how much it cost.....I had both done for I think around 500 shipped from missouri...sounds expensive..but there isnt a good driveline shop in Saint Louis and I like to drive 80 mph on the highway and not be shaken to death...

That isent bad at all. I paid 300$ just to get a rear shaft fixed with the same thin wall tubing. Do they vibrate at all???  Did you have to send your original  shafts to them?

Man, that looks like one heckuva crunch...

I read page 7, and I really like how you mounted your drivetrain and chopped out your tranny tunnel. Nice work. Sorry to see that 'Yota torn up so bad, but no use in cryin' over rolled Yota's  :flamer: :_order:

Got some work done today.

Ran the truck on jack stands and the d-line was out at leased a 1/4". The tubing looks fine its right at the slip where the wobble is at. It was making a ton of noise also. Really sounds like something is loose inside the tube.

I went to take measurements to have a new one made from high angle and i notice theres 4 tack welds around the sleeve  of the slip and a couple are broke and small fractures around them.

Obviously it looks like the splines bent.

dude, you can make your own. It's time consuming, but it's cheap.  I did my rear and it balanced fine with no weights.

I use two sets of 2 casters welded to 1/4" plate and clamped to a worktable, and I use a dial indicator to square each end to the tube.  lay the tube on the casters with the ends pressed in and tacked...use the dials to get them dead nuts on.  I've done like 3 fronts and 1 rear...the rear is the best one I've ever done.

Hyena

that is just a shield for the splines.  that doesn't have to be welded on, tacked is good enough.  Make sure the output flange on the t-case is tight.  that could cause it to wobble.

Thats another way to do it. Im going to pull the shaft and use a dial indicator to figure out whats wrong with it.

Still need to check that but when it was running the third and t-case flange looked good..

Durr.... I forgot theres a cover over the splines. :hammerhead: In that case the splines must have bent at the top.
