Transmission Identification
« on: Apr 22, 2016, 03:39:20 PM »
I have searched and searched the internet to find this Transmission. I have had no luck quite yet. I believe its an R150 or a G style transmission. I saw some early style R150 without the plug. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

It looks to be a G series trans.  But I am trying to compare it to 4x4 transmissions, not a 2wd.  But the overall base design resembles a G.

I am trying to find a transmission to put behind the 1UZ I am putting into my Celica. I found two with steel sandwich plates. I think they have a few W55 and W58s with aluminum sandwich plates. Here is the other transmission. Its labeled as a 91 Toyota. The shifter location looks like it could be from a truck.

Based on gearing I might have to go with an aluminum plate like this one.

I would look for a w55-58 or a V6 4runner but way too many of those have automatics

Is the second transmission with a steel sandwich a w56? Looks like a truck shifting mount

Those are w55 2wd.  The one with the shifter base closer to the front is forward shift the one coming out the back is the top shift.  Top shift was 85-88 pickup.  Forward was 89-95 fue to the floor hole location etc.  You can only truly distinguish a w58 celica supra tranny by the bellhousing bolt pattern and the r154 is shorter than a w58

it looks like a R series to me as there are nine bolts to attach the bellhousing!!!
