Manual transmission identification

I am an instructor at a technical college in NH and I need some help. Recently corporate Toyota sent us four W45 series transmissions that are new. I have not been able to figure out what these gearboxes came in to be able to identify a model and most importantly a dissassembly/inspection proceedure for the students in my class. Can anyone help me?

Well, all I can tell you is that it's a 4-speed aluminum transmission, and I am betting that it's a 2WD tranny?

Thanks for the reply Mike. Sure looks like a five speed inside to me. Has identical looking gearset as the W56 info ifound. Anyway class is tomorrow so I gotta wing-it, we already have them apart now. But if you find out, let me know. We'd still love to know what it came in.

W45 should be a 4 speed...

w45= 4 speed 2wd version of the w50-58   they would be in 90 ish delivery pickups,  like auto parts stores use,  the very stripped down no a/c or creature comfort   el  cheapo trucks


if like the G45  to G52-G54  they could be made into 5 speeds  simply by adding the 5th components, 


i know this cause i asked marlin about a G45  back in the spring
