I cant seem to go more than 2 weeks without replacing parts on one of my toyotas... now my 86 22-re in my 4runner is buring oil... producing a fair amount of smoke when i go slowly downhill...... i have burned about half a quart in 500 miles.... what should i do? How long will this engine last buring oil like this? Do i need to rebuild? What are my options? Thanks,Andy
Do a cylinder leak down test, sounds like a stuck ring or a broken one. Hopefully its just high manifold vacuum sucking oil past the valve stem seals or a worn valve guide= easy common 22re stuff. Good luck. Mike
1/2 a qt in 500 miles ive seen brand new engines burn more oil than that, probably a valve stem seal, no big deal man, dont worry about itwhen you burn a quart in 100 miles then its time for some new rings,no more than you are burning i wouldnt touch a thing
