Diaper Failure Stories
« on: Sep 07, 2011, 08:44:03 PM »
Tonight I was holding my nearly 3 month old son and he had a major diaper failure.  One big fart and poop was on the couch and my netbook.  I've heard stories of the potential to display such power, but this was my first first-hand experience.  The verdict was that the diaper wasn't installed perfectly.  My wife and I just laughed for a while before starting the clean up.

Let's hear your stories.

The netbook was closed with the hinge on the near side.  I'm still not sure how poop got under the lid on the far side, it must have bounced off the couch.  After I cleaned everything up carefully and put it in a bag to put in the trash, I found poop on my knuckle.

Get used to it, it shows up in some surprising places.

I've been surprisingly lucky with diaper 'splosions. She's had many poopsplosions but none like that. Usually it was up the back and had to take many-a-onesie off going down with it rather than up over her head. Now that she's eating solids, it's WAY less messy, but WAY more stinky!

Wait till you are changing them and they blow out on you.  Or the infamous, you've been holding your child, and later somebody asks you "what is on your shirt?"

Also, we had more "accidents" with Huggies, vs. Pampers.  Sometimes it can be because of the diaper.

I don't miss the sound of a wet one hitting the skids in a diaper.   :rofl2:  Cause you know from the sound that it was more than the diaper could hold...

Have you learned the trick to keep them from peeing all over themselves while changing them?  For some reason both of our boys, when the cold air hit their tally wacker, they would pee all over the place.  Pull the diaper down and expose them, and then put the diaper back over them for a minute.  This would happen almost everytime we changed them.  So, we learned this trick.

I think I've heard that Pampers works better for boys and Huggies for girls.  This seems to be true for us.

He did have a projectile blow-out a while back in the middle of a diaper change on one of those plastic bathroom changing stations.  My wife was wiping his butt and he just let fly.  It took both of us to keep him out of the mess so we could minimize the damage during the cleanup.  It would have been horrible had we both not been there.

I had my share of blowouts with my 4 kids but recently my wife watched her little cousin for the night. We didn't have any place for her to sleep so she slept between me and my wife. I woke up the next morning with my right side wet!
