I think I buy from the M.E. because my buddys dad is a trucker and he puts the same Chevron gas in the tanks as he puts into the Safeway gas Tanks. I buy from safeway because its cheap and my motor runs pretty good with it...

What about Unocal 76?

That's interesting but as far as I know ARCO is the only company around me here in SoCal on that list.  But my vehicles run like :pokinit: on ARCO, that crap clogged up the injectors on one car in the past.  All that car ran was ARCO for 2 years and it barely ran.  Cleaned it out changed gas and ran it for 5 more years without issue.  I'd rather buy from someone else and am open to suggestion, just no ARCO.

I use ARCO only. Never had trouble with it.  It is usually the cheapest price.  Here in AZ it's at $ 2.33 (87) last time I checked

All I can say is I try to stick to Arco or Safeway around here, averaging $2.50 a gallon.

7-11 can kiss my a$$ cuz I went to them and their gas messed up my car's performance, too watered down so I was told, so I stopped using it and now my vehicles run a LOT better.

I have some friends that work and own a business that directly deals with fuel from the refineries, and the fuel we buy on the west coast, is actually from mexico, off shore derricks out in the pacific off of Califronia, and alaska!  The mid state's is from mexico, gulf of mexico and persian gulf, and all of the east coast is basically dependent from the persian gulf!  There is a National Geographic mag that supports this too!

I just heard from a friend that 76 is responsible for creating the car crusher program that destroyed collectable classics as well as junkers.  So I changed my mind I don't like 76 anymore.  :bull crap:   Still don't like ARCO.  So I guess I'm stuck

1991, Unocal helps start the car crusher program.
1996, Unocal sells their west coast pipelines and terminals, refineries, 76 products and Circle K stores to the Tosco Corp.
2001, Tosco Corp, is bought out by Phillips 66
2003-4, Phillips and Conoco merge to form ConocoPhillips who now own the 76, 66, Kendal and Conoco product lines.
Circa 2005, Unocal is bought by ChevronTexaco who inherited the a$$hats who started the car crusher program here in Cali.
You can still purchase 76 products with a somewhat clear conscious (I think  :dunno: )

Isn't BP, Philips, Conoco (listed as non-ME) AND Amaco (listed as Me) all the same company?

does this also apply to motor oil since most of the major gas/fuel companies are also associated with motor/gear oil?

That's a very good question.  I have no idea where most of the oil products I buy come from.  I buy stuff from many companies like Amsoil, Redline, Shaeffers and some big oil companies like Mobil1 and Shell Rotella.

It sounds like you are using a lot of synthetic products that are made in the lab so I not sure they count.  Here is some expanded information that I checked out and a link for brand ties:

Middle Eastern oil as listed above:
Shell
Chevron/Texaco/Unocal/CalTex
Exxon /Mobil/Esso/On The Run/Speed Pass
Marathon/Ashland
Speedway/Super America (I couldn't link Marathon and Speedway online as shown above)
Amoco (http://subsites.bp.com/ultimate/us/default.asp) is part of BP that is listed below  :dunno:

Non-Middle Eastern oil as listed above:
Citgo
Sunoco
Conoco/Philips/76
Sinclair
BP/Arco
Hess

Its funny how most people in the US think that we get all, or at least most of our oil from the gulf region. Well, all those barrels that major companies like Shell, Exxon, etc import to the US only accounts for about 10% of the oil that the USA imports. It is way to expensive to ship that black gold all the way across the world. However, about 80% of Japans oil comes from the gulf, and European oil demands only about 30% from the same region. The majority of the oil that the US imports is comming from South America, which is much closer to our borders, and is cheaper. True, the price of oil per barrel is extremly high, and will more than likely to continue to follow an upward momentum. Gas prices are high, and will soon hit $3.00 a gal here in Texas. But what I want to know is why is diesel prices so darn high? Diesel is a byproduct , and it is more expensive than regular unleaded gasoline. I will continue to fill up at Shell and Exxon stations because of the quality of their product and services. Oh - the middle east accounts for 64% of the worlds oil withholdings, and Saudi Arabia accounts for nearly 27% of that 64% figure themselves.
