2 gen bed (long bed) Seattle
« on: Aug 30, 2015, 01:47:47 PM »
I would like to get ahold of a 2nd gen (84-88) long bed pickup bed. I want to build an expedition style trailer out of it. If you have one in decent shape in the Seattle/western Washington area let me know.

Trying to match what you have?  I would seriously look into a 3rd gen.  Lighter, and don't have the rust issues.

Too bad you don't live closer, my neighbor has one.  Just needs a tailgate.

Yeah I am trying to match my 4Runner. If your neighbors bed is in good shape I would be willing to drive to get it.

I have one, 85 long bed, primer gray, rust free, with a working tailgate, but I'm in Northern CA.  It does have kinda janky fender flares that someone attempted to put on it.  If you can't find one up closer, keep in touch.  Maybe you need a road trip to sunny California?  lamkinranch@gmail.com.  Kris

The 7' bed will be a little harder to come by than the 6', might be easier/more cost effective to find a 2wd being parted out and buy the entire rig.

If a 6' bed will work, here is one with the oem frame.
http://seattle.craigslist.org/tac/pts/5198179990.html

When you set the trailer frame up for proper towing characteristics, the 6' bed tongue to center of rear rim is almost the same as the '7, bed, but gives you more storage room, bed-to-tongue than the 7', and is about 8" shorter rear to center of rim.  This is one that I put together(still in the works) as a dual purpose trailer.

I will go talk to him.  And look it over again.  He said he had somebody wanting it, but its still there.  I will let you know as soon as I see him.
