Yep. Can't get any better. Tried running only 65 on the interstatethat didn't change it either. Only fault codes I get are for shift failures due to running an auto ecm. My 98 tacoma has never done better that 17 either.

Finally got around to puting the jl 6.5s in the doors this evening. Going to use the trim pieces between the doors and rear of cab along with door panels off my 81 to make template's from. Then put either 6x9s or 6.5s in the rear panels to leave room behind seats for storage. Also goin to run the bench seat from the 2nd gen parts truck. Having it re covered to match truck. Not sure if I want vinyl or cloth. Will burn that bridge later.

Tailgate has arrived. Didn't open box yet, just saw it was on the porch. Gonna strip it to bare metal, prime it and start sanding.

What a let down. Opened the box, it wasn't the tailgate. It was the grill I a ordered for the 06 double cab.

Opened the tailgate when it arrived today. Not terribly disappointed due to the fact that I can't find one. It has a few dents that can be fixed. The downfall is all these darn bolts the guy ran through it. I'll have to weld them up real cold so it won't warp.

Grenaded something in the trans friday night going to retrieve a bunch of 4wheelers that were told they couldn't ride home on the road. Luckily my buddy has a spare w56 for cheap. Gonna grab it and poke it in soon.

Went to Frank's and got the trans. It's a forward shift so that won't help any. On the look for a top shift

Ok so the w56 forward shift is still hanging oUT I haven't taken it back to my friends house yet. However another friend had a w56b he let me get for $100. While there I saw 2 pair of ramps like the car lots use to display cars. I asked if he would part with a set he said sure hours $100 sound. I told him it take em. Got them home last night. This evening unloaded them and used the tractor to put the disabled toyota up on them. Perfect hight to sit on a rolling shop seat. Unfortunately only got the shifters, exhaust, drive shaft, and rcase/cross member out tonight. Hopefully tomorrow I'll get the trans put and pop a rear main in it (weather permitting).

Sorry, that looks a little sketchy, like a hard push from the side would send it crashing down.  Don't end up in the news...

redneckcustoms13

Car lots been using them for years. They have some small square tubing thst ties them togethere that it isn't in the picture. I shoved the truck as hard as I could and it didn't move at all.

Short of for some reason  ??? someone deliberately trying to push the truck off of them I don't see them as being sketchy.

redneckcustoms13

When I put the truck on with the tractor I pulled it sideways about 4" on them to get centered. The truck slid across them rather than the ramps wanting to tilt or tip over. Seems good to me. They are tied together with tubing as well as the 2" ratchets holding the truck to the ramps.

LOL it sure beats a lot of setups I've seen and or worked under. The 2 Hi-lifts we used to do my rear elocker comes to mind...ugh that was so sketch.  :screwy:

I saw the strap, but couldn't tell the cross pieces were there.  Keep up the good work!

Unfortunately it's about to get ugly here for a day or so. Don't think I'll besing with it in a storm. :smack:

Those Marlin seats are so worth the money. Makes the trans feel so crisp.

Sweet, that's what I'm hoping for

A friend helped me set the trans down so I got froggy and jumped into it. I believe it's salvageable with that gear set replaced.

Rear main in, clutch back in, new used trans in. Gonna flush it real good with diesel fuel tomorrow to make sure it has nothing in it before it gets gear oil and the case bolted back to it.

All back together. On a test drive now. I do not like the new shifter seat and bushing. I was so used to the sloppy shift it was liquid smooth. This firm shift is a strange thing I must get used to. Seems to be all well so far. Still trying to round up that 4.56 3rd to get the front functional.

You'll get used to it and it will make for better shifts in the end.

:haha:  I had the same issue when I swapped them in my 2wd.  Used to be loose like my 80 and I could shift my 80 faster, now that I'm used to the 2wd being tighter I can shift it faster and better.  Never worried about the 80 since I will eventually do a tranny swap

Only put about 50 miles on it today. Gonna go for a even 100 then drop the oil and replace just for good measure.

Your boat looks like it has the same steering wheel as your truck.
