I know that feeling. My All-Pros flex like a mad man but put any weight in the back and she ends up looking like this:

I can't decide what I want to do. I know I'm not doing 63s but chevy c10 springs look good, the Rangers I did research and they don't do loads well, not doing a lift spring simply for the reason you stated above. Open to opinions

I have a ton of spring laying around, might go that route and just poke some more into the existing pack to get more out of it.

F-150 swap is the best from what I read/hear.

Negative but should work good with a bed also. Think the front hanger moved 8.5" forward

Yesterday on the way home from the boat launch throttle cable broke. I got another one to get me by until a permanent solution is made. Anyone have suggestions on a cable the will work without having to fork up the firewall? The little universal Mr gasket snapped at the factory soldered end that comes on it.

Hmm, that's some interesting stuff. I suppose I'll take a crack at rhe f150 swap simply because I do quite a bit of towing with it and loading the bed with junk. I'd like to just be lazy and slap some air shocks on it but I'm concerned with the flexing that it would rip them.

Throttle cable is annoying me.  :tantrum: It's got small sticky spots in it and I know it's going to break again. I looked at a few 4wd 1st gen cabs at the house and they have a different pedal. So I guess I'll go to the junk yard and grab a tacoma throttle cable, use a 4wd throttle pedal, and as bad as i hate to do it, cut the firewall so it will fit. :rivers:

Hit the u pull it after work yesterday and got a throttle cable from a 96 2wd 2rz taco. Got it home and looked at rhe difference. A 1st gen 4wd cable mounts very similar to a re or rz truck. However a 1st gen 2wd throttle cable threads through the firewall into a threaded block welded to the inside of the cab. I did not want to remove that I'd the reason for attemptimg to use the universal cable. That cable never was as smooth as a factory job, and after breaking one I knew something must change. I took a 17mm open end wrench and twisted back and forth on the threaded block until it broke free. Inserted the tacoma cable and secured it to the firewall gen the inside with 2 self tapping screws for temporary purpose until I have someone that can hold the roll when I insert machine screws and nuts. With the cable mounted I moved to the pedal. Again. A 4wd 1st gen pedal the top where the viable mounts is similar to the re/rz trucks, a 2wd is not it uses the same round lug as the throttle body end except smaller. I removed the 2wd pedal assembly and held a 4wd (from a parts truck out back) next to it to see the length of the pedal rod vertically was about 3/8" longer on the 4wd. The mounting surface that goes to the fire wall with 2 bolts in it is also different from 2wd to 4wd. I put the 4wd pedal rod onto the 2wd mounting bracket. Hooked it all up and it sets a little higher than the cable but not enough to worry about. Holy crap we have a smooth pedal boys! She is smoother than the pedal in my tacoma. I dig it! Now just to figure out how to re attach the rotten rubber pedal part to the floor...

While at the above mentioned pull a part, I spotted abut 20 f150s. There is a 94 4wd wthe leafs hanging ready for the taking, and a 92 2wd ready for the taking. Is there a difference in the 2wd and 4wd springs? Also early 90s is what I'm looking for correct

Mid 80's to late 90's 2wd f150's, the mid 80's up because they come with teflon pads at the tips stock

Did some pirate research and found that 4wd are 3" and 2wd are 2.5" so the 2wd it is. I might te to go grab a set this evening if it isn't raining.

I put some 31s on 2 weeks ago and have now ran 3 tanks through it. Apparently it doesn't matter if it's turning 31s I can tote with 1 hand or 33s that are heavy as lead. It still gets about 16-17mpg. 200 mile trip to dans the other day yielded same result. Also the windshield has developed a leak. Driving in a good rain on the way to his place water somehow dripped directly into the ecu causing it to take a dump about 85 miles from home. Talk about a strange thing to do at a gas station. I pulled the maf, cleaned it. Pulled the fuel return, it was happy. Decided the problem was in the ecu. Removed it, went to the restroom, dried it with a paper towel and put it back in the truck. Ran a like a new one again. I must remove the windshield gasket and clean it  soon.

No real updates of importance. Put some brake pads on the front about 2 weeks ago. Also put on the little sissy tires to see how the fuel mileage was affected. Complete waste of time. Still gets about 16-17. Yesterday headed to my grandmaws I took an old dirt road I used to spend some time on.

Spent most of yesterday morning helping a friend with a locker install and knuckle rebuild on his 94 sas truck we built a few years back. After that went to gordons where we put the new 3rz head on the tacoma. It went fairly smooth. Today we tied up all the little things lIke intake, pulleys and valve cover. Runs great with the exception of the horrible valve rattle. They were supposed to come Shimmed properly. I'm quite pissed about it, guess we will tear it back down next weekend to measure for shims.
