Yep, as soon as it's going, that's next on the list  I'll probably start with an internal cage and bumpers and go from there.

Ok, here's the finished product on the truck  I used 3/4 ton TRE's on the drag link because I already had them. I will eventually change to one ton ends and do high steer as well

KWP

Well I got to work on the runner today. I have it just about ready to start the tube work. I decided to lose most of the body. I figured I might as well do it now rather than later, it was going to eventually happen anyway.I ordered my pipe bender today also. I am going to use good old poop pipe for the cage. I have read about lots of people using it with very little problems so we'll see. anyway on with the pics :gap:

how much u want for the rear plastic piece that holds the reverse lights and liscence plate?

FatAzzRunner

KWP,

I dont know what your plans are for beefing up the rear but On my runner, I used a piece of (I believe) 3" channel across the back.  It fits right into the inside of the frame rails and is thick.  We then welded it to the stock crossmember across the back and on the top, bottom and sides of the frame.  Mine is really strong.  I towed a POS Jeep back to camp this weekend on my rear d-ring and it was through and over big rocks so I had lifted the front of my rig off the ground several times trying to get the Jeep over rocks and the frame and channel piece were unscathed.

I will take pics in a little bit na post em up.

I was going to use a peice of 2x3-1/8'' wall tubing with a 2'' receiver hitch through the center of it, braced all to hell of course. Are you still planning on going one tons under your rig?

Yes sir I am.  I am holding off right now though as it looks like I will be getting layed off in the next year so I am pushing all extra $$ to bills.

Ahh, come over to the dark side and work for Spirit!
My runner might be runnable int he next few weeks...any chance you'd be up for a local break in trip sometime FatAzz?
IFS is best kept at ambient temperature in a pile of scrap in the backyard.  When kept under a functioning vehicle, it tends to greatly diminish said vehicle's offroad ability.     -reklund5

Spirit wont even look at me right now.  They have made it known that if you are still employed by Boeing, they wont even take your resume.

Yeah, There is a place in Rosehill, about 15 minutes from where you live that we can wheel at and test out your rig.  Either next Sunday or the one after that, we are gonna try to put a little wheelin trip together out there.  You are invited to come out, just let me know when your ready to roll.

Well, I finally got me some poopoo pipe for the cage and I got my bender in as well. If my job would ever let me have a saturday off I might be able to make a little progress on the cage to post. :tantrum: If anybody has any tips or tricks for bending pipe with a HF style bender please post up.

KWP

Instead of getting poop pipe I ended up getting some 1 7/8 .120 wall HREW. Five sticks 24 feet long :gap: Now the bad part, the POS pipe kinker I bought completely ruined one stick of the tube . I tried sand, moving the rollers and bending slow and it still kinked the tube. I found some plans on the net to build a tube bender, so I guess when I get this thing done I can start on the tube work again.

boggerunner

i have a tube kinker from harnor freight, and the thing works better on square tube, and it kills exhaust pipe, but some friends dont listen to me when i say it wont work, but it bends thick drill pipe pretty well, did all my ugly cage work on my yellow truck ok
http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2376895

KWP

Well I finally got started on the cage today. I had to go ahead and use the pipe kinker for the bends. I think I can live with it until I am able to afford a real tubing bender. It's not kinking it too bad this go around. I am filling the tube full of sand packing it good and bending really slow. I should have pics up tomarrow if everything goes well. WISH ME LUCK. :disturbed:
