I'm kind of late here, but what are your thoughts on adding a 2" receiver to the back that ties through to the shock crossmember? I've seen it done on other offroad trailers, gives you the option to add a bike rack or other accessories, as well as having a rear recovery point for you or for pulling the guy behind you.

Sounds like a great idea. However, past that part of the build. Definitely something to think about in the future.

Made some more progress. Just need to weld shock mounts on rear axle. Tear down  Prep and clean rear housing..  seems a little tall. May have to pull overload spring. Looks like 8 inch travel shocks will be ideal.

Looks like the shackle angle changed, did you reuse the 2wd springs or another set?

I re used the original springs. I think im going cut rear shackle frame mount off, Move forward an inch and a half. If you look in a few pics when I first got it, the shackles look about the same. I did shave approx 25 to 30 lbs of unnecessary stuff off.

Made 2 shock mounts. Had 2 ruffstuff  shock mounts here. The shocks I purchased where the cheapest I could find. 13.61 each. This way I could set shock mounts. Got upper and lower mounts welded on. Primed, and painted rear housing. Waiting for it to dry. Just need new seals and o ring for axle, and some gear oil. Hoping to use it by monday.

OOPS

Are you going to put a different hitch set-up on it, pintle or 360? That is what I see on off-road trailers!!

Yes, in the near future. Needed to make a couple dump runs, so my main priority was getting it cleaned up and usable.

Sometimes I just make things..the base is a rear drum, then a vented front rotor, then a rear solid rotor. The vented rotor pulls air. Just need to make a door for it

I think it need additional air flow from lower axle housing. Just doesn't seem to burn hot enough. Going to add adjustable air flow at lower axle tube. Go from there.

A small air pump would do wonders. That's a darn cool use of an old housing.
