It will get chewed up by a steel cable, but if he goes with a synthetic rope...

I think I have a roller fairlead that someone can have if they need a replacement.  It weighs almost as much as my M8000 plus rope.

Nope. Warn makes a hawse for steel cable. I know a guy who has one  :smokin:

Depends whether said Hawse is Aluminium or Steel

Same one I have. I get so many people who start in on telling me how I'm going to chew up my hawse when they see me using a hawse with steel cable. I just sit there and let them finish and then politely let them know it is designed for steel cable.  :shake:

Isn't the steel hawse harder on the steel cable than the rollers are?  It sure seems like it should put more wear on it, but maybe it's not enough to matter.  I made the switch to synthetic because I wanted minimal weight followed by added safety since it's only been used two or three times over the past 5+ years.  The hawse fairlead is pretty much standard, I think, for a synthetic cable.

SOOO. I got the grizzly installed. Pattern looks nice.

Picked up a CB for the trails.

Got the rear bumper painted and reinstalled.

Got the Ruffstuff armor on. Also my breather relocation is done. Ran it into the passenger side rear tail light area.

Also added on on the 9.5 in the front. Took a little work with the press to get it right. But its welded on. This is a terrible pic.

If you see it, its for sale.

I've got the same CB. I like the portability.
Time to go wheelin!

So I think the runner is ready! Got the final few things done. I always have a more things I can do. But I feel comforatble with it. Also got all the swap wiring cleaned up and the complete front dash back together.

Rear speakers make a huge difference. So I wanted some. My runner didn't come with rear speakers. SO I didn't have the bracket and didn't have the rear speaker harness behind the radio. So I ran new rear speaker cable. Found this cheap at lowes. Really like the insulation.

Had to make  bracket. Got Alpine 6.5" installed. They match the front. Sounds good!

CB antenna mount finally arrived and got it mounted and hooked up. I have a spring coupler on the way. But didn't want to wait.

If you see it, its for sale.

What do you hope to gain with a diamond rear axle?  With your setup you shouldn't have to worry about anything breaking. The toy rear is pretty stout. Lots of other things will break first.

I want the rear disk brakes and the 9.5 centeted rear diff. Also like the idea of full float to make towing easier. It's also the difference between shouldn't ever be a problem to it will never be a problem.

Also going from 58 to 61"width

Rear Disk Brakes - Check
9.5 inch Diff - Less Ground Clearance, right?
Easier Flat Towing - Check
Reliability - Find someone that's broken a rear axle.  When I called Marlin Crawler years ago in an attempt to purchase a spare rear axle they pretty much refused to sell me one because my money would be better spent on something else.  At your level of build (i.e. 35s) you have nothing to worry about.
Width - Is your front 61 wide already?  Width is a balance like everything else.

What trails are you building for in your mind that you need this level of brute?  I always had the Blanca Trail in Colorado in mind when building my 85, but never managed to get a chance to actually run it in my own rig.   It's never been worth the three days lost in Moab to do the round trip.

I think it has something to do with the sentiment towards diamonds. He never got to use his last two  :sad2:

I am building it with southern wheeling in mind (as I am from the south and might move back in a few years Sticky mud, rock and the loud pedal), but want to to be able to drive (Or tow) it anywhere and run any trail with out worry.

I want the 9.5 for the 3.4 and I will also have to tow a horse trailer with my rig from time to time. Possibly long distance. So the 9.5 will make towing a worry free event.

I will also be on 37's at some point down the road.

When I replace the front I will got 63" Right now i'm at 58. You are prolly 100% corrrect. I don't need them. But they offer me severl things I like and several things I simply want. So why not? Keep pushing the rig forward and it just gets more and more awesome.

hell i was running a 3cylinder with 37s at MCR lol

but yea zippo 61" wms is a good medium, thats what my runner is at and the pick up is at 63.5" wms.

ill tell you if you dont already know but being wider has is benefits, more stable but it does require a little more finesse to fit between obstacles, youll be forced to go over them sometimes then around them.

So I haven't been doing much on/with the runner other then driving it every once in a while. Been really bussy. But starting to get parts in. Still waiting on the diamond rear! But other things have made it home.

Dude FROR is nothing but top notch!

Drive flanges for the full float rear.
