Personally wouldn't get 16.5's....

Are you looking only for a street friendly mud tire like km2, mtr?
Or would iroks be okay?

LINK IT!!! LINKS!!!!!!!!
I wish. Right now I don't have the time and money to link it. I'm going to swap all of the parts from that axle to another ifs housing I have and then I'll have disk brakes and chromo shafts. But I'm gonna keep the housing for one day down the road when I decide to link it

Well found a tank that i can use that will allow me to run a intank fuel pump. For a 93 2wd short bed 13.7 gal. I measured my tank and the dimensions are all the same and the bolt patterns look like they will work. Only thing im not too crazy about it that is doesnt have a drain hole but thats just me being picky. I think itll work if not i can always return it.

I used almost the exact same tank in my last p/u, only i think mine was 11gal. It came out of a 2wd third gen that had a carb! (Canadian model or something).

I had to get used to taking jerry cans on every trip.

Nice glad to hear the schooling paid off ,  [emoji106] . i know im resurrecting  an old topic on this thread but explain again how easy it was to swap the 22re ??? Like you I have an 80, same color, also very clean ;) . However one big difference, I've put my 77 chinook  cabin on the back :yesnod: . (will be starting a thread soon) and am going to be building my 20r either into a hybrid. Or swap to efi, or efi the hybrid :eyebrow: . So far I already have the weber, an LCE street cam, and street header. Now I like my carb, for the fact of simple reliability, and easy to fix. But If I fabed efi onto the 20r, or just do a strait full swap. what would I need based off your build? Was it night and day difference?

Fuel economy is key with my build.

The swap was fairly easy. It didn't seem like it during the swap but lookig back after it was pretty easy. I chose to do the 22re swap basically because 22re's are a dime a dozen and they are easy and cheap to build. If I were you I would just swap a entire 22re into your truck. Trying to custom fab up a efi system for your hybrid could get challenging there's no EFI intake that will directly bolt onto a 20r head and it would just be easier to swap an entire motor. Now for power it's not gonna feel like you dropped a v8 in your truck but it is noticeable. I would suggest rebuilding the motor with a new head from Engnbldr that has a cam over sized valves and rv valve springs. You could even port and polish the head some too but that's up to you. That combined with a header and maybe a small air intake upgrade and you will most def notice a difference. And as far as mpg goes let me just say that the best I have gotten was 21 mpg and the worst being 16. I usually average around 18 but keep in mind im running 35's and 5:29 gears. With a setup similar to mine but using smaller tires with more highway friendly gears I don't see why you can't consistabtly average around 20mpg. I say go for it! It's a little bit of work but totally worth it in the end. I ended up not having too much money tied up into my swap. Let me know if you have any questions

Oh ya bro I know all about the square runners of the TB and circle ports of my head, and the bolt holes won't line up. If I went the efi route on my build I would fab up a 1/2" aluminum adapter  plate to mate the two.  I've heard that a 20r/22r hybrid  is a better base build for any of r motors, I'm just trying to decide if efi is all that hugely  worth it,  I have the header and cam, and I will be putting the 22r block under my head, and if it ends up not being enough, then I'll either super charge it, or efi, just wondering how  significant it is? and easy the wiring was. Is it literally just splice the ignition wires? ,do I need to change fuse  box? Is that it?

By the way didnt mention this but in order of importance, > reliable simple/easy to work on(it's going to be an expedition rig),economical, power.

I swapped the entire harness out of my donor vehicle into mine. Super easy and just removed what my truck didn't use a little time consuming and I had to figure out how to wire the heater but other than that it was fairly easy and came out looking clean. Basically it looks like my truck came with a 22re from the factory the harness isn't cut into

OK cool thanks bro. This was one of my reasoning for straying away from the swap. That and having to rely on a computer for my truck to run, haha not sure if that's old school paranoia  but those were my reasons. Always thought  carb (especially a simple weber) was more reliable than efi mainly for its simplicity, not sure if this is fair reasoning?

I made it a few years back. I like it it looks nice but I smashed it up last time I went wheeling. Probably gonna replace it with a all pro bumper

Hey how are you liking your Coopers?

i love the coopers! I have a ton of miles on them and it doesn't look like I have worn off any thread. They do good offroad for what I have used them from. But I'm gonna be stepping up to 37s soon so I'm probably going to throw them on my ford. Maybe buy a set of them in 37s for my truck
