Ok so i have a guy that wants to trade me for my old engine for a set or 4 35 inch bfg km1 tires. 3 Tires have 60% and ones got 20%. Do you guys think thats a decent trade?

Is there a reason most everyone chooses the 3rz over the 2rz? I know the 3rz has more displacement but from what I remember reading, the performance numbers are practically the same.. just wondering.

Im not sure either but id settle for a 2rz. 3rz jut seems more popular.

Tungsten Slayer

Little difference in power between the 3 and 2RZ.  8 HP to be exact.  The 3RZ has a forged crank while the 2RZ is Cast from what I was told.  3RZ has balance shafts which I would delete for rock crawling and the 3RZ has a longer stroke, hence the balance shafts and more displacement.  I always rock the 2RZ because of no balance shafts and I get em so much cheaper.. Going turbo on mine right now.

ImmortalYota80

Ok so I got my dash pulled and started stripping the truck down even more.

Some of the wiring is a little messy and has been nig rigged but i will clean everything up

Now i have no clue why the previous owner did this

Those are the ports for the heater and ac to go to the little dash vents on the sides. I have no clue why they have been blocked off. Also im going to be removing all me AC stuff it doesnt work anyways and it wont be compatible with the new engine.

Kind of your call..  Im not sure how long ago they made km1's but i feel like it has been awhile.  with that said ive always heard people say once a tire is 7years old it is no good anymore.  After i had a 8year old km1 blow out on the highway, i started staying away from buying old tires.  just my :2cents:

Well boys and girls its not a 3rz but I suppose its not that bad of a deal for only $800

Well only had the runner for one day and the tear down has already began!

Also i thought this was weird my ECU is labeled 22r

I've decided that im going to do a complete rebuilt to the engine. I compression tested the cylinders and they were
#1- 170 PSI
#2- 175 PSI
#3- 171 PSI
#4- 179 PSI
I thought that was very high so im extremely happy with this. I'm simply gonna get new gaskets, seals, water pump, oil pump, some stiffer valve springs, and maybe a cam. Since the compression is so high im most likely gonna leave the bottom end be because everything should be in good shape. I'm gonna order everything through 22re Performance. Any other suggestions?

Also forgot to mention that my dad has a buddy that has a little welding for me to do to his bronco. Gotta weld some shock hoops on, weld a set of mounts on for his new extended radius arms, and cut and turn his dana 44 axle knuckles. Hes giving me a brand new set of 35/12.50 tires for this work well worth it if I do say so myself  :ladys-man:

I would so appreciate it if you would do a really good write up on the 22re swap! Especially on the wiring required! I would almost pay you... almost. Lol

I have a spectacular opportunity to do a 3rz swap (whole truck for $300 :o ), but I don't know if I can do the wiring for it so I may go with a 22re if I can find a truck.. Either way, I'm sure many others and myself would benefit from a legit write up on a 22r ---> 22re swap.

You know theres a ton of info out there for 3rz swap but not alot for the 22re. Basically its all an easy swap up until you have to splice in your existing guages, ignition and all that other fun stuff. Thats where im stuck at and looking for help.

Yep! I'm not at all worried about mounting the 3rz and transmission, rerouting the exhaust, clutch lines, gas tank, etc. but the behind the dash wiring scares the heck outta me. BUT a 3rz would be awesome! My uncle has done several LS swaps and a few other domestic swaps so he may be able to help me out. If not, I may wind up paying someone to do the wiring part..  :crossed:
