Hope to have this installed tomorrow and see how well it works. Very well made, looks easy to install. I will have to cut a slot for the rotor to clear. I'll post some pics when its installed.

Having some trouble getting this thing to work right. I don't think they are compatible w/Marlin triple drilled flange. When I bolt up the caliper to the mount, the rear pad, dl side, drags really bad. Only way to prevent this is to space the mount out from the t-case slightly but even after doing that I still don't get hardly any pull out of my e-brake handle. Also, because the Marlin flange is bigger diameter than stock, I had to clearance the rear pad w/ a grinder because it was hitting the flange when I tried to bolt it up.

score, all the stickers are going gone though.  but i guess there is no cracks to hide.  :_oops: but it looks good. i actually just found a small crack in mine to. i saw a build that a dude put a late 90s dash and steering wheel actually the hole inside from windshield to the floor in a 87 or 88 it was pretty nice looking but a lot of work. was thinking about doing something similar but now i have a new manzenita groove down the driver side...... so it took away the clean look i had going.
But i do like the dash cover though.

Look what Dingman built for me!!     Heavy duty, long travel, CV. Changed out the front output flange. Now I just need to get my arse out on a real trail and put it to good use  :driving:

What size tires are you running? And how do you like the new mtrs? Have you had them in the snow at all??

HogCanyonHopper

They are 35's and have not had alot of wheeling yet. Hoping to give them some here real soon. Haven't had them for very long and and no snow wheeling at all. If you do a search on here, you can probably find some good info on them.

Got started on installing the knuckle gusset kit that came in yesterday. There was a pretty big gap on the top of each steering stop so I decided to weld a piece to the top of the front one and it worked out nice. Got them to sit flush on each side. Might touch up a few places, but for the most part, its welded and good to go. Now on to the bottom gusset.  :flamer:   :turtle: Using my Hobart Handler 140. Left the knuckle assembly on. Going good so far.

Got the bottom one done, so on to the next side tomorrow I hope. Welds aren't perfect, but its kinda tough getting into tight spaces. They penetrated good though and should be plenty strong  :crossed: . Pretty easy install once you get em to sit flush and start welding  :flamer: . Takes most of a day to do one side.

Got the top gusset on the driver side done today. Went alot quicker than the passenger side. Bottom gusset may require more effort because of the axle gusset. There is major gap between both steering stops. Will post pics when I get to that.

Heres a little update on my truck: Put some ARP hub studs in yesterday. Got one side done and will finish other side today. The studs are quite a bit longer than stock.

Started the re-locating of my rear shocks. I got inspiration from how Slolyfe and OldGold3VZE did theirs. They will be vertical and layed back just a little. Should get my shock tabs from RuffStuff today and get going on welding everything in place  :flamer: . In the picture you can see some triangles that I plan using for some gussets and the half donuts are a big washer I cut in half to weld to the frame under the x-member for a little added support and strength. Any comments, suggestions, advice is appreciated   - Joe

Got everything burned in  :flamer:

Bottom bracket was a bit difficult to weld but they are burned in good and should be plenty strong  :crossed:

Heres a shot with the bed back on. I wasn't sure how I would react when it was back on  :yikes: but I think it turned out great  . Rear shocks are re-located and they should work alot better than before  :crossed: . Also, I cut over 6" out of the frame and threw in a piece of 2x3 square tube  :flamer: . My rear shackle hangers are too far back, so that is the next thig on the list: scoot 'em forward about an inch. Also, had to cut off some of my exhaust pipe when I mounted the driver side shock so I will be dealing with that too. Bumpers and sliders are on the list and then hopefully a trip to Fordyce for Memorial weekend to break this truck in properly.  :yesnod: .   :turtle:

Going to buy some steel this week and get going on building some armor. Tailpipe is re-located and I installed some johnny joint shackle hangers which were welded  :flamer: about 1/2" forward from where they were to give me a better shackle angle

how did the rear suspension turn out, I liked the old style where they could travel side to side, and am curious why you went the way you did for shock travel

HogCanyonHopper

With the shackle angle better now and the shocks more vertical it seems to flex better but I have not had it off road at all yet since I did that. The way I had it before was not flexing good at all so I think I will see a difference now  :crossed:

So I figure the only good excuse that I'm not out wheelin my truck this weekend like I wanted to is because ITS NOT DONE. Working on the sliders and have one side done. Yeah, I know the welds are pretty ugly :ack: but I am using some flux core wire that seems to be of low quality :dunno:Its all burned  :flamer: in good though and should be plenty strong  :crossed: .

Looking good.  Everyone likes 1st gens.  Such good quality work you should hook that welder up to a gas tank.  Makes even a novice welder like me look good that way.  haha.
