Unless this is a one off-manufacture build, I think someone needs a reality check.

I didn't catch the mileage on that tacoma but he's not too out of line with that obo price, it pretty common for people price things high on Craigslist because of all the low ball half priced offers. It's probably worth no more than $9000 depending on miles, but these tacomas have really held their value well.

175k on the odo.
Outside the TRD V6 models or quad cab models most in the N.CA/Reno area listed in the $5-9k asking price with the later production years at the $9k side.  KBB and NADA value it at about $4500 for a private sale in "good condition", which this one isn't.

Oh I know all to well about craigslist buyers :shakehead:, but they aren't that bad, except for the tweekers without money.

The $7k he wants over the remaining loan balance would be about the right asking price.

I basically had the same truck and bought and sold it for $1500. These prices are getting more and more ridiculous

From the pics it looks like you have listed it accordingly, seen some in about the same condition listed in my area from about $8-1400.

I paid $850 for mine, rebuilt the weber and it passed smog.  But that was in 99, and you always take a big chance buying something that isn't smogged.

It looks clean, and I know vehicles often go for more in the Bay area, but asking $3-4K over a stock vehicles market value is a bit much.

Found this on craigs. Made of real GOLD!!!!

http://losangeles.craigslist.org/lac/cto/4791282195.html

I hate to do this, this is my family's baby. Except, we are now having our first baby next month and there is only 2 seats in it. Thought about doing a walk through, but it just looks to good to cut it up. I bought the rig 5 years ago and it was bone stock. And that was where it all started. As you can tell there is nothing stock on it accept the dash, and wipers and one of the t-cases. This one has it all and I have no idea where to start. New motor, only 15K on it, top end, is all titanium valves and springs, shaved .030 head with a 420 crawler cam. Stainless Steal Timing chain and chain guides, Stainless Steal head gasket, and a Long Horn Header with a flowmaster. New 3 row radiator, Excide Blue Top Battery. and i know there is more under the hood. It has the upgraded W56 Tranny with only 100K miles on it. the front t-case is a 2:28 and the 2nd case is a 4:70 with a TrailGear Adapter. The rear case has the Twin Stick. It is a SAS and all Trail Gear parts for that. The front axle has a welded front diff, TG 6 Shooter Knuckles with a Sweep eliminator with all new bearings. The front Axle is also sporting 27 spline chromoly TG Birfields, with chromoly inner shafts and 4:88 gears and all Steal Braided brake lines. The rear axle is the 4Runner axle with a full Spool Locked diff and 4:88 gears with new brake shoes. Up front suspention is the Trail Gear Hoops, with Bilstein 12" shocks and Trail Gear 4" leaf springs and the entire front half of the frame has been double-gusseted, you can see the proof on the frame. The rear, suspention has been reconfigured to angle center with the 12" Bilstein shocks, the leaf springs are off of a 2001 Chevy Silverado Z71 and boast a Rough Country 2" add-a-leaf, and 2" pinion shift blocks. Now to where it meets the road, The rimz are 15x8 (negative ) Allied 32 bolt True Bead Locking. And they are wrapped with BFG 35x12.5 KM2z. And yes, there is plenty of body armor. Custom front bumper, made just for this rig to house the Warn Zeon 10s wench. TG sliders and rear bumper, Also TG .250 thick under armor to protect the Duel Cases. It has all new paint and windshield. The inside has buchets out of a 93 4Runner, and the lights inside. JVC head unit and 4Runner center console. CB radio and on and on and on.......... Current reg and clean pink in hand. Not trying to sell, just trade for the right Toyota FJ60 for the family. By the, Big Mike from Marlin Crawler helped me in person set up this rig, that is proof it was bruit right. If you have the FJ60 of FJ40 I am looking for, hit me up.

11g for welded front and spool rear? Even mention BIG MIKE from marlin help him set up his rig so it's built correct, using all trail-gear component?

Seeing what it is, where it is from, and the cost of importing it, it is likely priced right w/about $2-3k in negotiation room for rust and need of completed.

Both of these owners are priced like it is still 2007,

Granted a lot of work has been done, but the economy just wont support that kind of a price anymore.

I think it also depends on what part of the country you're in.  Here in Texas, 1st gens are hard to come by. This is what mine looked like when I bought it 8/14. Po was asking $2300 and I got it for $1400. I feel I overpaid but I didn't have many choices and I still had to drive 4hrs one way to get it. At this point I don't regret buying it

If that has a solid frame, body, and was complete, $1400 isn't a bad price, did it run?

it ran but the carb was junk. frame is like new and body is good enough for a wheeler. it was on a deer lease for 15 years and the interior smelled like dead mice so bad I had to gut the inside. I was so pumped to finally have a 1st gen that I didn't care.

Interior restoration is just about needed for any vehicle that wasn't well cared for, some of the DD's I have restored have had worse interiors than rigs that have sat rotting away for 10yrs.
