Topic: 1991 pickup operation problem

Hi Folks my buddy has a 1991 toyota pickup with an automatic transmission has a power loss problem. Sometimes it runs great at other times it looses power and spits ans sputters. When this happens he stops and it accelarates fine. Is there a diagnostic code and procedures procedure he might be able to pull codes from. I know this is kinda vague but that all I have. I suggested he start with the fuel filter and go from there

what motor does it have in it?

First thing I would do is to check the rubber tube that runs from the air filter to the TB for cracks.

It has a fuel injected 22R
