1991 Pickup cab removal
« on: Oct 24, 2006, 05:02:16 PM »
OK i need(want) to pull my cab off the 1991 xtra cab. Any insight is greatly appreciated. Already have the whole console/dash off, interior is empty as possible.
On looking at the engine bay, it seems a bit tight to slip past the intake manifold side of the engine, could clear. Moslty seems to me that just pulling off the stuff on the fenders and unbolting the body is all thats needed, oh, and steering shaft.
Anyone done this before? I know fongs has, I hope he will read this thread. Im looking for any tips, tricks or unforseen obsticals. And no, i dont have a fork lift, but, i do have rope & big tree & a com-a-long.
Thanks everyone.
-John

Just make sure everything is unhooked. Pull the wiring harnes inside the cab, make sure to disconnect the brake lines, unbolt the fuel lines from the bottom of the cab if they are supported there. Just look out for the little stuff, don't look anything over, follow everything. Then invite a few friends over for a cab pulling party. Supply the beer, pizza, whatever. It took 3 guys to pull the cab off my truck. Since yours is an X-cab it should take a few more. Its a 10 minute job once everyone is there.
