As for the great news I am as glad to hear it as most other Americans. Finally!! I told my wife that I just wish his departure could have been a lot slower and a lot more painful. The important thing is he's gone. Maybe without his charisma (and his money), the terrorist movement will be somewhat crippled.

Sure, but as we've seen in our on country...a new leader doesn't always make anything better.

He was, I think, more that a figurehead...he inspired them. It may get nastier, they will seek vengeance under the new guy...but, I don't think there will be as much fervor.

It may or may not be a political move but you have to give him credit for greenlighting the operation. 

That being said everything else he's done blows chunks and won't sway my vote. He may be campaining but when election time rolls around the + of killing Osama will be a faded memory and the state of the country will be #1.

Exactly. He could have just as easily slammed the brakes on, but for once, he did the right thing. More accurately, he allowed others to do the right thing. That said, there's no way in heck I would ever support or vote for the man.... but that's a different topic. For now, I'm enjoying and appreciating what our elite forces have done.

As to binLaden's quick burial at sea -- that took me by surprise. They say it was in accordance with Islamic custom, but it's already bringing out the conspiracy theorists (no body, no proof). It could be the best way to dispose of the rat b*stard though -- no country would likely have taken him, and more importantly, this way he won't have a gravesite turned into a shrine.

It won't happen, but this would be a fitting opportunity to re-instate the Pledge in all classrooms.
Anyone who disagrees (ACLU lawyers?) would be politely escorted to the door.

I agree. I remember, every morning, we would stand...hand over our little hearts to recite the Pledge...it made us feel a part of something.

I find the timing rather suspect given obamas sagging ratings and lack of response to high fuel prices, the sick economy he helped create and the fact that he is seeking re-election.
Either way, I'm glad he's dead but give no cudos to obama for it.
