Are you talking about bobbing the front to shorten your wheelbase ???

Bobbing it doesn't effect your wheelbase unless you cut the frame down in the back.....
This being said i like a wheelbase as close to 110 as i can get, my last truck was 107 and i'm at least aiming for this on my new truck. Makes steep climbs and water falls much easier

the only way way to shorten the wheel base is to bob the front of the bed. Cutting off the frame in the back isn't gonna do it, unless you move your springs forward and then your still gonna have to bob the front of the bed to line the wheel well up. Stock 3rd gen extra cab is 125" stock.

I think my ideal wheelbase would be 115. But it all depends on what you like(like you said), and where you wheel.
And yes, yes I do know what they say about opinions haha..

i plan on trimming what ever where ever I'm just no sure how long i want the wheel base why 110? or 115? whats your reasoning behind the wheel base lengths. I have a joint in the middle for the rear drive line when i shorten the wheel base should i take it out? i i am going to be putting dual cases in it also so I don't think ill need it, but maybe it is a good thing i don't know thanks guys

You can bob the front of the bed rather than the back to move the wheel well forward and allow you to shorten your wheelbase. My 91 extra cab is currently about 127, I would try and get it as close to 120 as you can. Reason being is that would keep it long enough to keep the steeper climes easier, and still be able to get around tight corners pretty easy. It might even be better if it was a little shorter, a lot of it is on your opinion of what you like also.

I like the 103" to 107" neighborhood since the wheeling we do around here has tons of sharp turns.  Long wheelbases seem to stuggle more in the tight stuff.  Another reason is the height required to get a longer vehicle over some of the ledges we have here.  If the rig is very long it has to be rather tall to give it the required break over clearance to keep it from getting high centered.  I don't want to be extremely tall as I like the low CG...

Ya, thats why I said it all kinda depends on where you wheel. For the Hammers, Rubicon, and Fordyce, I can get away with running 127 and still haveing a super low cog. Don't get me wrong there are spots were I really wish I was at least 6" shorter but i'm just gonna go flatbelly for know and tube out the rear and shorten up the wheelbase later. 103" - 107"  would be pretty hard to achieve with an extra cab, I think 115" to 120" would be pretty good to chop his truck down to, since he is starting at 125".

well I'm going to be mostly on the Rubicon i live in the sac area. why would 103"-107" be hard to achieve? is the gas tank in the way cant i just move the hangers forward more?

To move the axle forward so it is at 110" your gonna have to cut as much as you pissibly can out of the front of the bed and then notch the back of the cab to fit your tires. I ran the Rubicon all last year with the stock wheelbase and no bed bob, only time I ever high centered was going through the little sluice. I would just bob the back of your bed and leave the wheelbase alone. Bobbing the front is gonna be a little more work and your gonna have to move your springs forward, and it doesn't look all that great imo. Try and keep the two piece rear drive shaft if you can, I didn't and I bounce it off rocks quite often.

Bobbing the bed just 5 inches in the front will put your wheelbase at about 118".
Here is my old truck that was at the stock wheel base,

If you think about trying to get it to 110" your gonna have to cut the front of the bed off about a 1/4 of the way into the wheel well, and then notch the back of the cab out to fit your tires in.

i stretched my 92 reg cab to 112 and it rode a hell of a lot smoother and climbed hills better but definitely noticed the turning radius wasnt as tight. I'm shootin for 109-112 in the 85 runner... seems to work quite well around here

My Tacoma X cab is at 126 now. I runn Rubicon mostly and have never had any real issues. I'd like to be around 120 but I dont mind making a few 3 PT turns. It is nice on climbs I will say though.
