Who has Shortened there wheel base
« on: Jul 15, 2005, 04:28:00 AM »
Who out there has shortened there wheel base on any 89-95 excab trucks.
I have a 90 excab truck, and the 122" wheel base is to long.
Please show pics if you have any, and what you have done to shorten the rear.
My plans are to move the rear axle up about 12 inch`s, and cut the bed or do a flat bed.
Thanks

I shortend the wheel base on my mud tacoma,,,It was pretty easy to do..I used the stock sprinds,,and don't run a bed,,so it was pretty straight forward..If you leave a bed on it you can bob the bed from the fron to make up for the inces you loose from the shorter wheel base..
Forgiveness is between them and god..
Its my job to arrange the meeting!

i moved my gas tank and linked the rear so i didnt have many of the clearance issues others might.  it sure makes tight turns on skinny trails less hectic

the top is 111'' on 36's
the bottom is 109'' on 38.5's

both have the front axle moved forward 3''

turns WAY better with just a foot, or so, cut off the rear
