No No it's not a muffler bearing switch......it's to release your turn signal fluid to your bulbs. :rofl2:

On a serious note, more than likely it's fod light switch os some kind lighting switch because got one just like it from the wrecking yard from a runner....it fits perfectly in the factory pre-cut slot. just make sure you have no power source going into it so it can't ground out.

Looks like an aftermarket switch that was stuck where the clutch-cancel switch went. Toyota made blank filler pieces to go on trucks that didn't have switches (base models, auto trans etc...) and plenty of people used them for switch mounting spots. I have a few like that... no big deal.

That was a switch that the government decided that some vehicles needed so they funded it with tax dollars and put it in a few Toyotas.  It was known as the "switch no nowhere"

clutch cancel switch is on the left lower side of the dash on my 93...

definitely an aftermarket switch.  probably leftover from previous owner using it as an amp switch for a system he had in the truck at one point.  you can easily see it doesnt match up to that harness pigtail behind it.

probably originally that pigtail was attached to the backside of the blockoff plug in that slot.  previous owner pulled the plug out and shoved the harness pigtail back up in the dash, cut the plug to fit the switch and away they went.

truck is likely prewired for dealer installable type options such as foglights, etc.  check the wiring colors of that plug to the FSM in the how-to section and that will tell you what it is for.  might be able to upgrade your truck for cheap.

Most definitely an aftermarket switch for some sort of axillary lighting, amp, or other electrical device.

I have a base model 93 pickup and never had a switch there. I do however have the harness behind like you stubbed out. Always wondered what it was for  :willynilly:

im assuming a common wiring harness for the runner and the pu when it comes to this part, as this is were the rear defrost button would be.....  i have heard rumors that some people with pu's have had rear defrost.... but thats not for this conversation lol
