This is turning into a drinking and driving argument. Everybody shut up if you can't keep on topic.

What is my BAC when wheeling? 0.0 every time I've gone out in the last 4 years.  Yea I used to get trashed and wheel but the funny thing is I've done more body damage and less drivetrain damage since I quit drinking while wheeling.

I'm not one to tear thing up either unless the rocks are complaining.. :talkingn:  It'd look kinda bad if I or my group was drinking or trashing the place since my wife owns & runs ORVTrailwatch a non profit group dedicated to keeping our trails open by educating the asshats or documenting and turning them in if needed..

Nice! Major props for that! I try and get to as many cleanup and whatnot runs I can. Especially on the Rubicon.

Yea I know I'm kinda off topic now, sorry, back to the main topic...

hahaha Actually the place is about 5 years old. I like a clean shop. :D

It's the exact opposite of my trucks, I clean them up, wheel the piss outta them and beat em up and swap the drivetrain out.

Too bad for all of you wanting to look good instead of just driving the silly thing that you'll never know the thrill of taking a wicked line that can dump you on your side or roll you.  Some of us don't take bypasses and we enjoy getting dumped on our sides and driving back onto all 4's.  Thats a real hoot. :gap:

ive tried to keep my trucks nice at some point, but with the unforgiving trails that i run, they always turn into crumpled beer cans.
 stuff like this happens

some sliders and a rear bumper would of kept the damage down on this one

then u put some fresh sheet metal on it

and go play in the rocks again, and it starts looking like this again

and i dont drink and wheel. i need to keep a clear head to get through the tough trails i wheel on.

I going to wheel mine,  But after putting 20k into it i sure the hell wont drive it off a cliff.   I built it to use it not to kill it....I just wish i had all the money in the world to throw it away....

If it's ugly when you buy it, beat it. If it's pretty... don't wheel it.  :twocents:

Phil, your trucks usually look like that legendary "Top Gear" Toyota but always seem to do great on any trail. You got any exo's planned for anything?

If you don't want to beat it up buy a pre-runner. I don't try to tear my truck up but if it gets dented o-well that's why I have it!

I use to baby my truck and that sometime forced me to leave the pack and wait for them to finish the harder trails, which sucks to be a puss. But then when I accidently cruched my piller on a tree, the cab was concidered toast and thats when all the fun start.

right after SAS

after all the awesomeness

my lastest is a 93 landcruiser, no exo, just bumpers and sliders, id rather sport body damage than an ugly exo
here is my latest project that will soon be wrinkled

Some people treat thier trucks like thier first born and others treat them like step children. Mine is my baby but the Bible says "Spare the rod and spoil the child".  As I see it  go and use it but dont abuse it to the point some one will call CPS...

I just have to respond to this topic as its something that gets under my skin. If you wheel tough trails body damage has a large chance of happening no matter how good you are or the truck your driving, however i dont think that is what he had in mind with this topic. I think he is mostly addressing how people beat up their trucks for no good reason. I usually see this because either they dont have the skills to be where they're wheeling or their truck isnt built for what they are trying, or the worst the type of person that will put the gas to the floor and keep it there untill they have either made it through or broke something. The thing i really hate to see is when someone gets off line or its obvious that they cant make it through will lean up against some rocks or a tree and nail the gas untill the whole side of their truck is trashed. Now my truck is a daily driver so i like it to look at least decent, but i didnt spend money on sliders, bumpers and the like to protect the body just to trash it on purpose because i was too lazy to pick a better line. Now your truck is your own property and you can drive it however you like, but bear in mind that when other people see you treat you stuff like that, especially the tree hugger crowd, they assume you dont respect your own stuff so you cant respect other people's stuff or the land you wheel on. Just sayin. Sorry about the rant but its something i see all too often and it bugs me.

I agree w/ FADE....majority of the people here don't dump 5k + into their trucks so it can sit on the lawn and look pretty. It's not like we intend to do body damge....somestimes you just can't avoid it.

IMO if you build a vehicle or buy a vehicle to be driven in any offroad situations it will get damaged in some way whether it be scratched or crumpled. Just don't get pissy when your OFFROAD vehicle gets damaged it's part of the sport. Personally I don't care what it looks like as long as it runs great

I like a clean rig.  But like a lot of people have said... Body damage happens.  I try not to wheel too hard until I have sliders and more body protection...

body damage happens, and its a good sign of experience. Doesn't work that way when you truck's body is smashed.

I tried to keep mine clean. Lasted a whole 36 hours with it's new paint job and I had rolled it onto the roof  :hammerhead:
So I voted: It's ok
If I hit it just right, I might make it.

My truck is pretty beat, and it went form completely straight to half way raisin in only 2 trips. But I built it to beat on and not care about the body though so I don't care. I like toyotas as much as the next guy and I hate to see good toyotas get scrapped. So I see it as yes I did wreck a good yota, but it's still my truck and i'm gonna keep wheeling it. I would never be able to scrap it no matter how beat though, I spent a lot of time and money building the thing and I have a lot of memories in and under that truck.
