one more question R150F transfer case removal?
« on: Jul 02, 2010, 01:47:14 PM »
I know this sounds like a stupid question but I cant get the damn thing off the back of the transmission...

I'm following the FSM for this exact year/transmission as well:
http://board.marlincrawler.com/index.php?topic=13335.0

it says to just remove the various covers/mounts and then pop off all the bolts and it should pop off straight up off the back of the transmission.

I can get it to barely wiggle on the transmission housing but its not wanting to slide off at all.

I read the installation instructions and it says to put it into 4H but his knob is worn down and I have no clue.  I have it shifted into the lower left position (as far as I can tell) and no go.

here's a picture including a red arrow showing the bolts I undid.  It sort of wiggles but aside from that no go.

I'm wondering if there's something I havent done that isnt said in the instructions.

its a J-shift pattern so low (it should wiggle to the left and right alot) to the left then up, and then remove all the bolts along that line you have pointed out then stand on the bellhousing (to hold the tranny down) then yank up and it should come lose. the t-case is a top shift so its not a requirement for it to be in 4 hi

ok, then I'm not crazy and I am pulling on the right area.  I guess I'm just not yanking hard enough on it lol.  the way it wobbles made me think there might be something still hooked up internally or what not.
