Well here's my inspiration for my bumper.

That Toyota is a legit bada** truck. It's freaking beastly. It has a 400 cu SBC and a 4" procomp lift and a custom front leaf pack. The front leaf pack has like 10-12 leafs. And the bumper is made out of 1/4" steel plate. It has 2" square tubing for the posts and 2"x2" angle iron for the railing.

Looks like it came from the set of a Mad Max movie.  You could strap some bodies to that thing.

make it slimer. you can still tuck a winch inside and on top... you dont need it to be a cattle gaurd or an obstacle hanger

Are those fender flares?? And yea that's sweet but to me it's looks funny, maybe it's the angle of the bottom plate... Idk.... I'm also gonna do some work on today actually, I'm gonna fully gusset it up and finish it all up. I'll take pics as I do it.

You don't actually wheel do you? In comparison to daddy's bumper yours is an anchor. With what limited approach angle you used to have, you can forget about it with your bumper.

As far as looks go it's all a matter of preferences, but what works and what doesn't is fact.

Is that really your inspiration...? that looks like something that should be in the "disgrace to offroad pictures". Ghettofab.

While the idea may have inspired you at least you weren't inspired to copy the design, yours while over sized looks cleaner and has potential.  I hope the builder of that X-cab is a better mechanic than a designer/fabricator, that bumper is pretty  hideous and doesn't look like it provides any protection for the winch.

For better approach angle and aesthetics I would remove about 4-5" of the lower part of your bumper(below the license plate) to the angled section, taper the sides to about 4 inches, and then weld back on the angled lower section of the bumper.  This would increase your approach angle significantly, while still giving you enough room to house your winch inside the bumper.

Also you don't have to build the bumper to house a winch.  You can attach the winch to the frame in its own cradle, then bolt the bumper to the truck over the winch.  This would allow you to tuck the winch as far back in as you can, eliminate the need to fabricate multiple frame attachment points for the bumper(like the ARB winch bumpers have), and allows one person to install the bumper and winch w/o a forklift.  The bumper I built for my '91 is designed this way, and IIRC, the entire bumper only weighed 72lbs.  I used a combination of 1/16" & 1/8" steel diamond plate, and .120 wall tubing for the brush guard.

Plate bumpers rock,  but getting the right lines is a artistic thing. Trial and error, ??? and a lot of staring. :headscratch:
