Does a 4runner shell fit on a longbed toyota?

locked 4x4

not 100% positive but i believe the wheel base is differnt and also the im not sure on all 4-runners but the ones that i can remember seeing the gas tank is mounted lower than in the pickups.  Probably also depends what year truck and runner u are plannin on switching.

I dont think it will match up with the cab all that well.

EDIT: Are you talking about swapping the entire body? then it will line up with a short wheelbase single cab, on a longbed toyota the rear tires will be about 9" or so back from the center of the wheel well judging by the wheelbase of a 4runner (103") Vs. a Longbed (112")  Also have been told on a 4runner vs a Pickup the bodymounts are different.
There is a fine line between clever and stupid, I just wish I knew when I crossed it.

I saw a guy driving what i thought was a 4runner but when i looked closer it was just the 4runner top. Gas cap shouldn't matter just the length of the bed

Ill measure my 4runner tomorrow and give you dimensions of the top and you just measure your bed for the difference

I measured a long time ago & it was close. IIRC the bed rails aren't wide enough on the truck & the 4Runner shell was a little short. Snug Top or Leer did make a camper shell that had windows like a 4Runner.

Not w/o a lot of work.  IIRC, the 4-Runner cab is taller than the pick-ups.  It would also be a lot of work to seal it up, shells and Runner tops fronts are nowhere near the same.  W/the right skills, anything can be done, but it wouldn't be practical for most to do.

As mentioned companies did make 1st gen 4-Runner type shells.  The original after market shell looked like this:

However when I bought my shell in '90 for my new truck, they no longer(at least the two types I had to choose from) made them w/wrap window, and only this style was available:
'90 black X-cab mod'd 3.0, 33's/4.88's, rear ARB, custom bumpers, sliders, safari rack, etc.
'91 Blue X-cab 22re, 35's/5.29's,Truetrac front, ARB rear, dual cases, and custom Safari flatbed, bumper, interior.

Not worth the time find a canopy and be done............wheeling is more fun than messing with fiberglass.

If you are refering to the hardtop shell that the 1st gens came with then no it won't fit a lwb since the 4Runner is based off of the swb truck. If you are refering to the cab shell of a 4Runner then the answer would be the same since the 4Runner is based off of the swb and sports the swb frame.

the 4runners cab goes vertical with no angle vs. the pickup cab that slightly has a angle leaning forward on it.  you end up with the bottom pushed up tight and the top with a 3-4in. gap.  I've tried it.  I just picked up a shell identical to the one on the white truck above.  i've had a lot of people think it was a 4runner.  funny.  I like it though.
